  3. Can we please put the whole "diddies need the OF to visit 'cos of the money" nonsense to bed? Only once in the last five years have EITHER of the Ugly Sisters pushed attendance at TTOP over the 10k mark (while the one game we played against A*r, which was midweek and on TV, pulled in 11k+). The majority of their fans don't travel, and ours don't want to be in the same ground as those that do. Policing costs go through the roof, though, because Strathclyde's Finest know what they're capable of especially when they're out of their own middens. Let one die, and watch the other wither. Happy days, and a clean league at whatever level. It's not like ANY Scots team is going to trouble Europe anytime soon, so vote the cheats out and let their counterparts wonder where the "fans" went. The rest of us can start August with bigger ambitions than mere survival on the drippings from their slavering chops. KTID

  5. Yeah - here's Rangers 20 point plan... 1. Rangers cheat and buy huge success - bluenose hordes lap up the Murray years. 2. Murray sells in dodgy deal to dodgy owner for a quid. He must be doing (virtual) cartwheels at washing his hands of the mess, especially the bigger tax case. 3. New owner promises the earth - bluenose hordes gather outside and cheer their new knight in shining armour. 4. New owner is exposed for what he is. 5. New owner deliberately takes Rangers into administration at a time of his choosing, and under an administrator of his choosing. 6. New owner hasn't put a penny piece into Rangers, has engaged in dodgy practices, the bluenose hordes aren't cheering him any more. 7. The bluenose hordes cry and want everyone - Murray, Johnston, Whyte, the taxman..... hung, drawn and quartered - they deserve better. 8. New owner and his chums administrators set about their carve-up robust plan to secure Rangers 'going forward'. 9. Good honest hard-working staff, creditors, the public purse - all cheated. 10. Rangers 'endure' some short-term tough times - but it's a coward's way to dodge the debts you racked up by your own gross mis-management. 11. Administration or liquidation - Rangers will rise from the ashes, perhaps in an 'Airdrie United' type of guise, and the rulebook will be ripped up - because it's Rangers. 12. 'New' Rangers - under new ownership who appeared from hiding after Whyte cheated his way to clearing Rangers decks, will be installed into the Ibrox boardroom. 13. They make a triumphant speech on the steps of Ibrox - bluenose hordes gather outside and cheer their new knight(s) in shining armour. 14. The speech uses the terms 'moving forward', 'stability', 'tradition', 'success', 'investing in the team' - bluenose hordes cheer. 15. 'New' Rangers is a term of convenience. It's the same old Rangers, but without the burden of the debt, which has been massaged away by cheating and skullduggery. 16. 'New' Rangers start to sign Scottish/British players of a calibre 10 of the other 11 SPL teams cannot afford - even the ones who didn't cheat their debts and have paid their way. 17. 'New' Rangers start to sign expensive foreign diddy players of a calibre 10 of the other 11 SPL teams cannot afford - even the ones who didn't cheat their debts and have paid their way. 18. 'New' Rangers win the SPL... and a cup. 19. 'New' Rangers are a small-ish force again in Europe. 20. Everyone forgot it even happened, and they all lived happily ever after. Again, like a previous poster - have I missed anything here?

  6. There should be far greater repercussions for entering administration from the footballing authorities. A ten point deduction for any team sitting mid table, or with nothing to play for, as the season peters out is nothing at all compared to clearing any unsecured debt and starting with a fresh slate. This sticks in the craw - at Ayr we cut our cloth accordingly which has culminated in us playing in a ramshackle stadium yo-yoing between the seaside leagues. For 3 or 4 years we had players come in from the juniors on 30 quid a week or so. I'm starting to think maybe we're the mugs for playing it straight.

  8. I could have told you that was the gig 6 months ago. Proffessional asset stripper is one word, thief, parasite and c**t are others. Whoever made the point about how we as society focus on benefit scrounging was totally right. As wasteful as it is, it's a drop of pish in the ocean compared to how much we lose from 'legal' tax avoidance. We should let these c***s die. We do all right for our size in terms of 'natural resources' in Scottish football, ie fans, young players etc. It didn't take long for these to fall into Rangers lap and it wont take long to fall out of Rangers lap.

  9. Yeah but, no but, yeah but... however it pans out - even if it means 'Rangers United', 'Rangers Athletic', 'Rangers Phoenix' - or whatever. Even if it means a marginally re-designed crest, new paperwork needing printed, and a host of technicalities..... it'll still be Rangers. They'll be at Ibrox, wearing blue shirts, training at Murray Park, watched by 50,000 (or 17,000) of the same glory-hunting torn-faced bawbags, and will still be singing from the same happy and glorious songbook. Inside Ibrox - would you expect to see that wood-panelled trophy room emptied? It'll be Rangers. I know what you're saying, I understand it - so will everyone else, but it'll be worked around and the new club (should it come to that) will be essentially the same one to anyone observing. If 'new' Rangers won the SPL - would anyone, absolutely anyone at all, refer to it as an amazing first title for 'Rangers United'.... my arse they will. Billy Dodds, Spency, the whole BBC Sportsound crew - they'd be there on 'helicopter Sunday 2015' - talking about the 55th title.... or whatever it is, I don't know how many the chunts have actually won. This 'blip' in history, this unfortunate but ultimately necessary breaking of the historical timeline will be airbrushed over in a manner that makes the airbrushing of the Kennedy assasination look tame in comparison.

  10. While people are right to be cynical, they surely make a massive error in crediting Craig Whyte as the Machiavellian genius of our time. I suspect he has a plan, but like his last one, it will collapse like a pack of cards. HMRC held other clubs over the barrel, and those clubs didn't owe them up to £75million. That means there is no chance of a CVA without HMRC's blessing. Whatever lessons need to be learned from previous examples, HMRC will have done so. Today we are a step closer to the world's largest jelly and ice cream street party. Hopefully Thatcher joins them 6 feet under to make the occasion truly unique. Pleasing.

  11. Again, I dont have any problem with that. I do have a massive problem with the state racking up 1 trillion pounds worth of debt and the fact that the tax they DO lift from peoples pockets doesn't come anywhere close to the amount of money they need to "distribute" to keep the state going. The state can get to f**k as far as I'm concerned.

  14. what would the point of it be . The league would be even more of a farce than it is now. And, what would there be to stop say Hearts doing the same. Or Any club running up huge bills then simply being liquidated when they couldn't pay their dues and then forming a new compnay and saying to the SPL " Right then , you let Rangers back in so you need to let us back in" Scottish fitba would be finished . I stand by my comments regarding not going back should the SPL Chairmen/Board/Whoever allow this disgrace to happen. I will also make Stevie Brown aware of this as will fans of other club who have already said the same about their own clubs and chairmen.. It's bad enough right now paying £20 plus to see yer team getting cheated against on the park, but this would actually be league sanctioned cheating..I would still want Saints to win but I would not give anyone who votes for this my money no matter who they are or what my allegiences are..

  15. Every single chairman would vote yes because they are blinded bymoney and specifically the TV money. They don't look any further than the next TV deal and have no concern for the fans. that much is obvious.

  19. TIME TO GET IT THROUGH YOUR THICK SKULLS! HMRC HAVE LOST 75 MILLION AND RANGERS WILL NOT NEED TO PAY IT. A NEW RANGERS WILL GET IN AND THE SPL WILL VOTE FOR THEM TO JOIN IF IN DOUBT IMAGINE THE WORST CASE SCENARIO IN YOUR HEADS AND THIS IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN. THAT SICK FEELING IN YOUR STOMACH YOU GET WHEN YOU THINK ABOUT RANGERS GETTING OFF LIGHTLY, THAT IS WHAT WILL HAPPEN

  20. Bear this in mind. The £75 million Whyte says HMRC are owed is enough to pay 400 nurse's wages for 10 years. Liquidate them.

  22. Pish. Whytes' plan has been to liquidate this debt mired grog-box from the start. He is more than half way along his path as it is. Good to see the other side of the poisonous divide (John Frances McFall) is spouting off about the FSA conducting an investigation. Another frickin useless political grunt who feels he needs to have his say whilst at the same time adding fcuk all to the evidence other than speculative reasoning. Trust me John Bhoy, if the FSA had something concrete to go on they would already be involved. Away back to the house of Lords and go back to sleep ya spud. Politicians..... eeewwww...

  26. Why don't Rangers just become like the Harlem Globetrotters? They could exist by touring the world playing exhibition matches in front of their alleged millions of expat fans. Maurice Edu and Dorin Goian could wow the crowds with their dazzling array of ball skills while Lafferty could keep the kids entertained with his hilarious improvised mime routine. Lee McCulloch can treat the spectators to an exhibition of kicking anything that moves and there can be a half-time competition to spot Matt McKay in a line up of randomly selected punters.

  27. This thread is becoming a chronic bag of mis-supposition and inaccuracy. If Rangers move to reform themselves, by transferring their league share and membership to a new company, then it's got nothing to do with the chairmen of most clubs, including Hearts Aberdeen or Hibs. It would be voted upon by the SPL Board which comprises Neil Doncaster and Sir Ralph Topping plus reps (not always chairs) from St Johnstone, Motherwell, Celtic and Dundee Utd. Assuming the 2 league officials vote for Rangers, it only needs 1 of the 4 clubs (Topping has casting vote in a tie). Over at the SFA the Main Board comprises Stewart Regan, Campbell Ogilvie (ex-Rangers/Hearts), some bloke whose name I forget (Cove), Rod Petrie (Hibs), Sir Ralph (SPL), Tom Johnstone (Junior FA) and an independent director from a brewers. If it were to be passed to the Pro Game Board, it's the aforementioned Regan, Ogilvie, Cove bloke, Petrie, Topping, Neil Doncaster (SPL), Peter Lawell (Celtic), 2 SFL reps and 1 HFL rep. Both the above suggest a transfer of share/membership would probably succeed if required. Fear of losing Rangers is not primarily driven by away attendances. It's driven by the fact that the Sky-ESPN deal (and the main value of the naming rights deal which is up for renewal) is based upon a league with both OF involved. I would be utterly flabergasted if Celtic voted against Rangers continuation in some form, if that vote made the difference.

  29. I heard the Five Live debate this morning, they had some professor on saying that they needed to think about safeguarding jobs at Rangers. How many people to Rangers actually employ? Closing them down and opening a big Asda at Ibrox would probably increase the number of jobs in Govan.

  31. This obviously has many twists and turns before any kind of outcome is reached. Whatever scheme Whyte has devised to get out of this, he will be investigated at every turn (rightly) to make sure it is legal. His 'strategy' with previous organisations were under the radar because no-one knew these companies even existed and this will not be the case with Rangers. I would like to know what the situation will be at the if the outcome of the £75m tax case goes against Rangers (whether during or if they come out of administration) and what Whyte/the club would have to do to rectify this? Any HMRC statement on the subject would be appreciated. What this has highlighted due to the profile of the case is how often organisations get away with duping the public purse out of billions of pounds - the owners of said companies are still driving about in Bentley's and mugs like us have to attempt to make up the shortfall. I have the same pit of the stomach sick feeling about this as I did with the banks. I feel it's time for a law change.....

  32. I know this will sound naive, but waht the hell! I saunter down to comet and buy a huge telly on tick. I pay a deposit and `my` telly sits in my front room. I then bump further payments and `my` telly gets taken back to comet by repo men. It`s not actually `my` telly until i`ve paid for it outright. Don`t suppose Hertz can take back Lee Wallace as he`s not been paid for? Or do Rangers sell him, pocket the cash and tell Vlad: `nae luck. that was another company. you`re entitled tae the square root of f**k all!`. ???

  35. Daniel Cousin signs for the Gers, but they've gone into admin before he's been registered. The SPL have imposed a transfer embargo on them as well as deducting the 10 points. Now watch the SPL bend over backwards to ratify his signing, then the administrators will bullet him in the cuts. You can see it coming a mile off.

  40. I know as a St Mirren supporter I might stand accused of trying to be smug here - but I'm not. I'm making a serious point here... A couple of years ago St Mirren supporters watched our owner do everything he could to STOP our club going into administration. I'm sitting here today watching a weasel like Whyte do everything he can to get his club INTO administration. I actually feel the dry boak coming on.

  41. HibeeJibee has pointed out a Scotsman piece on potential penalties for Rangers if it goes badly for them (15 points off for next three seasons, no Europe). The question is could Rangers as they stand actually recover from that? They'd have to sack most of their players to get the wage bill right down. With no Europe there will be no massive income from big Euro nights at Ibrox. Also, what happens to their season ticket sales that have been mortgaged to Ticketus? Does that debt disappear allowing them to bring in cash from season tickets going forward, or will they still have to service at least a proportion of that debt. Or will the ticket cash go straight to servicing a CVA? What I'm getting at is what kind of cashflow will the new Rangers have? Will they be able to afford to assemble a team that can challenge right at the top of the league, especially if they might have 15 points to make up every year, particularly with no European cash and potentially limited gate income. The worst case scenario, IMO, for Scottish football would be Rangers to escape with a 10 point deduction this season and essentially reform debt-free by the pre-pack message. That would be disgusting to me and to huge numbers of Scottish football fans. There needs to be accountability a sense of punishment for what, to me, amounts to cheating on an enormous scale. My club have suffered at the hands of this for years - Livingston, Gretna, Dundee et al - as well as losing a Scottish Cup semi final to a Rangers side assembled with money that should have been going to the Exchequer. If the worst that happens to Rangers is that they finish second (where they were going to finish anyway) and maybe shed some of their poorer players that would be an outrage that would drive fans of other clubs from the game.

  44. You kinda wonder how someone like Stewart Gilmour who put his livelihood on the line for our club must be feeling. Having watched a procession of c***s taking their clubs into administration it must feel like he wasted his time in actually trying to run the club properly. Its not as if you get brownie points for actually running your club well, you simply get stamped on by others making a c**t of things.

  46. All football clubs have cycles of success and failure, relative to their position. All the momentum we had in the early days of the Rae chairmanship were squandered under a series of poor managers, now we're doing little more than treading water and will, ultimately, take a step down again at some point. That will then become the low point of the next cycle: 93/94 we were relegated from the First, 94/95 we won the Second and 95/96 we missed out on a play-off to the Premier League on goal difference. If you're reading humility from this fact then you're sorely mistaken. After all this is the absolute high point of Queen of the South's cycle for generations and yet they still have absolutely nothing to show for it, and remain a complete irrelevance to Big Deals like ourselves. Same still applies to the rest of the 'Won f**k All and Never Wills' that make up half this division, and they all know by now who they are.
