  1. Similar to the movie thread, what was the last book you read, what was it about roughly, who would it appeal to and what mark out of 10 would you give it? I realise in the modern age a lot of people dont read that much any more, but some of us will and I find word of mouth is a great way to get "into" a new author. I'll start off with :- Name & Author :- "Dragon Strike : The Millenium War" by Humphrey Hawksley and Simon Holberton. Subject :- Global Politics/Third World War type thing Blurb :- Basically looks at what would happen geo politically if China decided to mop up its neighbours in the South China Sea and beyond to become a global superpower. What would the West, Japan and Russia do? Author is an expert in Chinese affairs and although it was written a few years ago a few of the "future history" predictions have come true. Score :- Id give it 7 out of 10. More fact than fiction and doesnt revolve around characters as much as "fact". Would appeal to Forsyth, Ludlum etc fans.

  3. It depends on the change. A change in title probably won't mean much and depending on the ccompany they might do on a whim. Changing the duties might need a consultation period before notice is given on the changes to be made. More detail needed. As my learned friend said, most reputable organisations base their policies on ACAS, so there would be a start.

  6. This. We didnt have any problems potty training either of ours, but we did wait until they seemed ready, rather than trying to force it. LM has already said a lot of the things I was going to. We used training pants too, for a while. The one thing we didnt do, and it was on advice from someone else, was go back. Once the nappies were gone, they were gone. Same with the training pants. A friend of Mrs X tried potty training her son and when he didnt get it straight away she stuck him back in nappies. A few months later she try again, but after the first accident stuck him back in nappies again. He was nearly 4 and still not potty trained last time Mrs X spoke to here. She was generally a lazy, useless cow mind you Congrats and to LM and Adam too

  7. Some lawn feed stuff has weedkiller built in that will see off clover and dandelions and daisies and stuff like that without harming the grass.

  8. I'm sure there's feed and weed type stuff that will do that. Can't think of a specific one right now (garden centres and DIY stores tend to have their own brands as well as big names anyway, and I doubt there's an awful lot of difference between them all). I don't think it's as drastic as having to dig it all out like couch grass.

  9. Are you referring to what Jamie's Maw has written ? or are you referring to the very accurate description of yourself ? MCL -- it wasn't me , its everyone else , big boys did it , they all mislead you , i'm the only one who tells the truth. Hope you remembered to replace your stone when you crawled out from under it this morning.

  10. This story is not being passed onto Mrs Swarley. 15 stitches, ouchy! Here are a couple of photos from Monday's scan of the Little Bean as he/she has been temporarily christened. 3D scans always freak me out!

  12. This is not something that "people write on Facebook" but my new annoyance is a fit bird who intersperses their photo album of them skantily clad in the sun with them skantily clad in the sun holding their 2 infant children, I felt a bit of a wrong'un as I had a half chub on from the first few pictures
