With the old season barely cold it's time to start the preparation for season 2009-2010 with the release today at 10am of the fixture card for next term in both the SPL and SFL.
All that is currently known is that both Rangers and St.Johnstone will be at home on the all important opening day, which will mean an away day trip for Tony Mowbray and his new Celtic side.
All the SPL clubs will play their opening six fixtures in a balanced three home, three away format but after that the games will be mixed around meaning clubs won't necessarily have a 10 game gap in between meetings.
The New Year fixtures are also predictable with the SPL opting to restore the traditional derby day card at that time. That means a pairing of the Old Firm two, the two Edinburgh Clubs, the New Firm derby between Aberdeen and Utd, a Lanarkshire tussle between Motherwell and Hamilton whilst St.Johnstone will play Falkirk and St.Mirren will go up against Kilmarnock.
Everything else is pure speculation, so we'll just have to wait until the release of the games before discussing any further. With fixture list copyright for the SFL and SPL coming in at a whopping £6k P&B does not have reproduction rights for the full set of games, but thankfully the wonders of the internet allow us to link directly through to Auntie Beebs lists so check out the fixture links at the top of the site shortly after 10am to see who your team will face on the opening day of season 09-10.
