Are you out of your mind? That guy was fucking useless, Killie's third choice keeper, brought in to cover Thomson's injury.... he was truly rank.

I beg to differ Rent's, between Bobby and Scotty we had our best season in the Premier league, the only bad game he had was against Rangers. Just because we were 2-1 up at Starks then went on to lose 4-2. I'm almost positive he played a blinder against Aberdeen when we beat them 1-0 at Starks.

Surely Ally Brown wasn't that bad or did u mix up michael and ally's names

What are you on about? Geddes was brought in for the 96/97 season, not the 95/96 season! i.e. he was goal keeper for the start of the season we got relegated, he played 12 times that year and was pretty much horrific in all of them, Colin Scott was also brought in that year and played 6 times with skeletor picking up the remainder.

I meant Ally Brown, obviously you weren't at the Brechin match or any match he played in. The only keeper who had the easiest of tasks to gather the ball. It ricoched off 2 post's and as he tried to grab it, it went in. Then feigned injury to cover his embarrassment. Fucking hilarious.

The season he played for us we finished 7th (or 8th I've blocked it out) in a pish second division. That season he shipped 5 goals to your lot. Much as I try to be nice about him he was a liability.

Fine February of 96, I stand corrected. he was still fucking shit though. Do you not recall his wonder kicking against Dundee Utd, 5th game in of 96/97, he pretty much ended up as one more nightmare keeper - rather like Fahey, who started well and went downhill.

Yea Thompson tried the Nicholl way of signing seasoned pro's, but with big Dave Narey you had a tactical genius, with Kriv we certainly did not. I alway's thought and hoped Narey would become manager after Thompson got sacked. Whatever happened to Dave Narey?
Jim Pansy
Ah Ramiro Gonzalez. I think we signed him from you. I think he was simultaneously the best and worst keeper I have ever seen at County. Certainly guaranteed at least one wonder save and one comedy screw up per game.

See, I'm gonna get back on my pendulum and swing all the way back Ally's side.

When he was with us he was a young 'keeper with a lot to learn with a shite defence in front of him. I also remember him playing through an injury for a fair few weeks - including in the 5-2 win for you guys - that was so bad we had Silvestro taking the goal kicks.

Sorry to be a pedant, but it was against Partick Thistle. There was a video of it on their website, don't know if it's still there. Shocking stuff.

I wouldn't put Fahey on your worst list btw, he had a phenomonal run in the 06/07 season and was solid for most of last season. Obviously he threw the tie away against Airdrie, but I still say Davidson had to take at least part blame for the first goal. Harsh to call him crap over ten minutes of madness.

Kieron Renton is the worst I've personally seen, he really was murder. And I don't get the hatred over Pounosammy - all right, he wasn't great, but considering the rest of the Anelka mob, he wasn't that bad.
donny86
Jamie Langfield probably played more games than Michael 'there goes my shoulder again' Brown

Bobby Geddes was pish, Ally Broon couldn't tell the difference between his goal line and the edge of his box and Keiron Renton is still making cock ups every week for Stenny

Huffiest keeper award goes to Sammy Monin for his strop at Brechin
pantene proV
To put Gary O's name in the worst category already is fuckin' insane and leads me to the conclusion that you only started this thread to get your dig in.
Gary is dodgy on crosses, agreed but his shot stopping is fantastic. Goalies dealing with cross balls is a lost art now anyway, check out the Premiership every week if you don't believe me!

Remember, Mikey Broon had a few dodgy games at the start and was useless at cross balls

Yea, your right it was Partick. The reason i put Fahey in the worst category was for that simple reason, having an excellent all round season then putting all that hard work to buggery with schoolboy error's. Airdrie were pish on the day but Fahey makes not 1 mistake but 2. Those 10 minute's of madness ruined his senior career, he play's for Glenafton now.

Before Michael Brown got injured i'd have said he was in the top 3 best keeper's in division2
1. Craig Nelson (Brechin)
2. David McGurn (Morton) You have to remember Morton were in our league the year Broony was injured.
3. Michael Brown (Raith)

I'd agree he was amongst the best in the league and the save whioch burst his shoulder at Alloa was fantastic but being amongst the top 3 GKs in a poor league doesn't put him in our top 5.
Dunning1874
Probably the thread to ask, how's McGurn getting on at Raith on the seemingly rare occasion he's got a game?
Michael W
No way is Michael Brown in the top 5 goalkeepers at Raith ever, and no way is Garry O'Connor a candidate for the top 7 (or whatever number it was) Raith goalkeepers ever.

Surprised to see Berthelot on that list too, I always thought he was a decent keeper, even if he was a bit slow to take a kickout.

The worst keepers I've seen are Keiron Renton and Ally Brown. Ramiro Gonzalez comes a close third for the amount of goals he single handedly threw away. That Killmarnock game still gives me nightmares.

He's been excellent when he's played, looks a great keeper. Unfortunately, he got injured early season and didn't get back into the team until the 2-0 victory at Arbroath. He then ended up in hospital before the game against East Fife at Bayview, and hasn't got back in since. He's by far the better of the two keepers, although it would seem McGlynn doesn't want to chop and change. If he hadn't got injured, I'm quite confident he'd still be the recognised first choice.

As far as I've been made aware, several senior clubs came in for him - granted at third division level, but they couldn't match what Glenafton are paying Fahey.

What about Skippy - Simon Miotto? Ok, he hardly played but has to be worthy of a mention if only for the enthusiasm of his warm ups! laugh.gif

Sammy Monin was an instant hero after saving a last minute penalty on his home debut against Falkirk in a 0-0 draw. Also remember him cutting about the pitch pre-match in Rovers goalie strip and flip-flops!

Worst 'keeper? I'm surprised no one has mentioned this one yet. After Scott Thomson was suspended for being sent off in the league cup semi, remember which clown was put in goals for the next league game, a 5-2 defeat at home to the Pars? I give you Mr Ray Allan.

As has already been said, Ramiro Gonzalez was both outstanding and absolutely, hilariously pants all in the space of 90 minutes. That goal he shipped against Killie when the ball sprung off his perm and landed in the net was comedy gold.

My top 3 in no specific order are:-

1) Scott Thomson
2) Gordon Arthur
3) Hamish Mcalpine (Hamish, Hamish swing on the bar)

Best I've seen

1. Scott Thomson
2. Gordon Arthur
3. Brian Potter (only for getting us to the cup final, then being unheard of since!)

Other good uns worth a mention : Chris Fahey (for when he replaced the injured Broony. What a season he had. Then he became shite). Michael Broon (outstanding for us before his injury)

Worst I've seen

1. Rudy Pussynancy
2. Guido Van Der Kunt
3. Tam 'Fat as f**k' Carson

Other bad eggs worth a mention : Ray Allan, Allan Banner, Ally Broon, Ramiro 'Gayhair' Gonzalez, and Jamie 'slice it over the dugoot' Langfield.

Commented on what fact?

No-one else in this thread has agreed that Gary O is one of our worst keepers of all time, and even if they did, it wouldn't be a fact.

Is your opinion of him based on his inability to deal with crosses? Were the other goalies on your best of list good at dealing with crosses?

I don't think he's that great as it happens, but there is no way he can be listed as one of our worst of all time.

Worst in my memory was Tom Carson, followed by Speedy Gonzalez. Guido was just about the best IMO.

FFS What's the sketch with you, i didn't say people in this thread have slated O'Connor. It was me, as far as i'm led to believe we live in a democracy. It's a personal choice simple as that. I used to be a goalie myself and you can tell by body language, McGurn oozes confidence throughout the team. And Sir flaps alot doesn't.

This season's best keeper's are.

1. Craig Nelson ( if age didn't matter, he'd be playing at a higher level )
2. David McGurn ( if he get's more game's, should be playing at a higher level )
3. Stephen Grindlay ( alway's rated him since his Dumbarton day's )
4. Scott Black ( believe it or not, he's a good keeper in a poor team )

I could comment on all keeper's but i've not been to much game's recently, just going by previous season's and the game's i've seen.
lzreid
I went to school with a guy called Stephen Grindlay. I find the whole thing very disconcerting.
RAITHROVRS1
By a country mile Gonzalez has to be the worst, close on his tail is Rudypussyfanny.
As for Fahey he was murder. We have not had a top class keeper since Van De Kamp in his first full season with us.
As for the best keeper it has to be Murray.

Ray Allan against Dunfermline 5-2 at Stark's Park. Truely awful mad.gif

Tommy Walker against Patrick Thistle in the 1980's. Bounced the ball in front of Mo Johnston three times near bye line at south stand. Johnston sticks out a foot, gets the ball and hares towards goal. Walker jumped on him and nearly flattened him.

Thistle scored the penalty - 2 goals up after 20 minutes. Elvis saved us by just about kicking Johnston into the enclosure ohmy.gif

No further goals
