Cant wait for saturday always love going away to Forfar

Great wee pub we go to...usually always get loads of pub time so half cut so lots of singing

Your right on top of the pitch also helps and usually lots of abbuse given to opposition keeper..but most important of al..BRIDIES
So Loons how are your team doing on saturday? Whta do you's expect for saturday? no idea what Stranraer will turn up

hopefully the one that plays good football and gets results:D

Given we have just won at home for the 1st time since beating yourselves on march 15th,am not sure what to expect.
I would think it will be a close game anyway and dont want a midweek replay at stranraer.

Nice to get a break from sh*tty league games.

Should be a close game, but we should have too much quality! *fingers crossed*

Stranraer and too much quality in the same sentence? Theres something just totally wrong there. No game is easy for us as the Girvan tie last year proved, as said fingers crossed but never too confident these days.

Phoned station park. Guy has to phone sfa which only opens at 9am to arrange a ref to inspect pitch. They have got covers down on parts of the pitch so it's 50/50.

I see lochee V ayr is off and they had covers down. dont hold out much hope for our game then.

Agreed pitch inspection should have been at 9am. Car and minibus load of committee had reached Girvan while I expect supporters bus had reached Ayr - 50 odd miles.

Winner of our tie versus the winner of the Forres/Dalbeattie game. Good incentive for all 4 teams to know they could get through and be in the next round with the chance of a good draw.

Has the snow thawed. Or is the pitch still frozen underneath. Slight frost forecast for the next two nights.
glasgow loon
Dec 4 2008, 18:39
Cant say anything about the pitch, but the snow is more like ice than snow.
Also given the forecast is not that great for friday and saturday it looks to me as if monday night will be the earliest it goes ahead,as sunday is to be mild and monday is the same going by the 5 day forecast.

Can anyone in Forfar update us on the likelihood of the game going ahead tomorrow?
glasgow loon
Dec 5 2008, 13:20
Its been raining at times during the morning and the ice and snow is disappearing.
The grass is solid underneath so am not sure if it will thaw in time, also depends on overnight weather if there is a frost that might make it game off.
Still think monday night is more likely than saturday.

Was having a wee pre match pint in the Caledonian before the game when we got the news

Took a we wander up to the park and the pitch although crispy on the top was actually soft below, could take a stud no bother, car key went in and turned. Forfar then went on and had a training session. Only person happy with the call off was the ref as he chuckled away when he left with his match fee in the hip pocket

From what I can gather
The SFA super intelligent rules state that they will try mondays and wednesdays until the game is played.

28. D rawn or Unplayed Ties, excluding Semi-Finals and Final Ties
(a) When a first match in the Preliminary Round (if applicable), Round One, Round
Two or Round Three is drawn, or is not played on or before the original date, the
drawn or unplayed match shall be replayed or played on the Saturday following
the first match or the date fixed therefor, or in the second midweek following
the original match date, unless the two clubs, the relevant authorities and the
Association are all agreeable that the match be played on an earlier date. The
drawn or unplayed match shall take place on a day to be mutually agreed by the

In subsequent Rounds, the drawn or unplayed match shall be replayed or played in
the second midweek following the first match or the date fixed therefor, on a day
other than Thursday or Friday, unless the two clubs, the relevant authorities and the
Association are all agreeable that the match be played on an earlier date.
© If, in either case, a tie is still undecided, clubs are required to make two attempts to
replay the tie in succeeding mid-weeks until a decision is reached. These attempts
will be made on Mondays and Wednesdays. Clubs may however elect to play on a
Tuesday rather than a Monday, but if doing so, will be required to play or replay on
the Wednesday of that midweek in the event of a draw or a postponement. Cup
Competition replays will have priority over league matches either scheduled or

Looks as though Kilmarnock and Motherwell will be fined so why don't the SFA give that money to the teams who have had to fork out for meaningless trips?
So I take it the re-arranged league fixtures will be re-arranged again? Better hope this doesn't end in a draw.

Unless I am reading this incorrectly it may have been re-imbursed to Stranraer, but by Forfar bizarrely. Can anyone confirm if this is the case?
