I take it you ignored the last paragraph which states "After the verdict, Mr Brown revealed that the accused’s record included previous convictions for a breach of the peace with a football aggravation and for an offence with racial aggravations."

Like the eejit who ran on the park at Parkhead recently, previous convictions have led to harsher treatment.

Congratulation to Celtic fans and the Irish government for forcing this issue, Rangers should have acted much stronger initially but they are to be commended for identifying this racist

So he has a couple of convictions for Breach of the peace and he gets remanded!! No wonder the jails are full to bursting if you are going to get remanded for this. If he was in the street when this happened it would have been a quite word and on your way and at the very worst a Fixed Penalty fine.

This is nothing more than a move to appease a minority in this country who are looking to be offended. IT IS A FUCKING JOKE!!!!

As for praising the Irish Government...f**k OFF!! They are interfering in an issue they have no understanding off. I agree the 'Famine Song' is highly offensive and actually not a little sickening but there is nothing in those 9 words that are racist or sectarian.

We have a St Mirren supporter...fizzy gillespie ...making jokes about Sir David Murrays disability and nothing is said but a few sniggers and a poster then gets banned for making a joke similar to David Healys and he gets banned!! Some people need to get a sense of humour. By the way this is not having a go at Ric or Stewartymac as i can understand how sickened they must be with the childish tit for tat nonsense!

It's simple, people say disgusting things all the time, just listen to MU and scousers abusing each other, but the line needs to be drawn somewhere, racist songs are most definately beyond that line.

There has to be a line drawn somewhere and acting the fanny in a large crowd when you're already known to the Authorities is a bit daft. I also reckon that, rightly or wrongly, the press interest would have played a part in the decision taken by the Court

As for praising the Irish Government, can you please point out where I did that? I have the same interest in the Irish Government as I have in other foreign Governments i.e none.

Of course they are....The 9 words are a joke though...I would never sing 'The Famine Song' for obvious reasons but would have no problem singing those 9 words on the 27th December directly at people such as mystic and glas.

Where do you draw the line though? Have you read the thread about the offensive songs by the supporters of 'other' clubs? I would think they are an awful lot worse than the 9 words which seems to have been seized upon by the mock offended.

Sorry...The bit about the Irish Government was in relation to LHHs post.

The Press do not write the laws of the land. He is being held as a political prisoner and i expect George Galloway and Tommy Sheridan to be fighting for his freedom...then again maybe not wink.gif

I understand that Ric but surely he had served his punishment...I realise you are all bombarded with this tit for tat nonsense and maybe the guy did deserved to be banned...i didn't read the thread i was too busy celebrating last night laugh.gif . I changed my non racist avatar to save you mods any more grief over it...even though a Mod helped me put it up.

I suppose my point is where is the line drawn? How do we know what is allowed and what isn't? You have a poster Copy n Pasting Irish Republican fund raising events and nothing is said...as far as i know and then this poster puts up a pretty harmless joke and he is banned.

Anyway you lot are in charge so i suppose you make the rules. I don't envy you or any of the other mods your job wink.gif

I think it's pretty obvious where the line is drawn. For a start the banned words list and the court cases surrounding the famine song and the use of the word rhyming with bun.

Racism is always considered wrong and should be a straight banning.

Sectarianism is frowned upon, but it isn't a direct banning offence.

To be honest, it's a complete juggling act, and we'll never get it right all the time, but none of the mods hold a grudge and warnings/bannings tend to be discussed in the hidden Mod-Cave that exists directly below P&B Towers and I hope we hit an even-ish line, even if the more perverse revisionists like Beyemystic feels it's some sort of conspiracy.

A lot of the problem is people pushing it. The tit-for-tat that goes on between the OF fans, gets exaggerated and snowballs. At times it's like a bloody youth club in here with people trying to "outsmart" the mods, by twisting things and trying to make long (and utterly dull) diatribes in some way to justify their actions, when in reality the mods are just regular posters who really couldn't give a f**k so long as everyone is happy and posts without too much bother.

You clearly broke the site's guideline and then your embarrassed colleagues tried to say it was ok because it was "sarcastic" or a "joke". Utterly feeble.

Before the complaint thread was locked I was satisfied to leave things, having identified both the flaws in the site's "statement" and your own foolishness/double standards.

Folk should look at it and make their own mind up. rolleyes.gif

Bearwithme
I'm not a fan of the so-called "famine song" but the one question that is all the Rangers support sings is designed to mock Celtic fans. Celtic fans sing about the famine - Rangers fans take the pee. And Celtic fans are not a race.

As for the eejit at Kilmarnock he seems to have been found guilty of a general breach of the peace which took into account such things as him jumping about when he was repeatedly told to sit down rather than any "racially-aggravated" offence.
