Full Version: East Of Scotland Team In 5th Round Of Cup
The Pie Shop > International & Other Football & Other Sports > East of Scotland League

Possible as i think Spartans and Dalbeattie will both win on saturday. A decent draw next round and they have a chance.

Would be amazing. However being realistic it is as much about making the most of this run as anything else. Were not going to win the Cup unless lady luck really is on our side but if we can raise the profile a bit more and get some new fans along when we make our move to Ainslie Park i'll be delighted!!

So far on our scottish cup run i've made it to two grounds i've never been to before and Elgin will be the third.

however you have forgotten about Vale of Leithen....tough game but you never know!!

Nope - second funniest behind any Hearts supporter who thinks the PBS will be redeveloped - but this is an EoS forum.

Let's face it, if Hearts can win the cup by beating a now defunct pub team only after penalties, there's hope for us all.

Very good Wolfie. You boys are lurking with intent in the league. Looking forward to seeing you play WW - cup final monkey off your back? Your season all round?

And you'll know all about Jonny Seeley on Sat - tough one for me but I'd like to see Jonny's boys go through.

I think I am going to have to break the piggy bank to put up cash to buy Robbie Ross to de-rail your promising season.

Don't think Seeley jnr is playing.... dressing up and playing Dr & nurses instead.

IMO our season is only just starting. To be quite honest until recently we have been pretty poor, kept on winning, not a bad habit, but beginning to back up the results with performances.

As for the cup monkey, I'll believe that one when I see it. I am still smarting from the Challenge Cup final last season (and the nine or so before that smile.gif ).

Enjoy the trip at the weekend. I have a sneaky you will have a pleasant journey home.

As for us if we manage a draw I'll be chuffed, I think this Brechin mob are quite tasty.

I am sorry as I would be delighted to see City beat Brechin, esp as I think you have the hardest take of us all!!

Brechin this season seem to be firing the vast majority of their cylinders and will be tough to beat. But if RR can hit form you just never know

I did say Lady luck would need to be on our side but in theory it could be we get beatable teams (aren't they all?) all the way to hampden!!

Robbie is a goalscorer but feel thats a bit much pressure on him. IMO Jordan Hall and our defence playing well will give us a chance to win!

I am doubtful but hopeful none the less

Oh Wheelie - what wine were you on last night?

A team that contained the likes of Main, Townsley, Innes, Tosh, Baldaccino, Skelton, Bingham, McMenamin, Grady, Smith and Duechar..............................described as a pub team!!!!!!!

Maybe that should go down as one of the ALL TIME twatty comments fi Spartans??????

I was batting for both sides last night Grumpy on the wine front but be fair I think I have posted much more twatty comments than that, probably even tonight.

Maybe I should have said "pub club"

I liked Townsley when he was at Hibs, particularly enjoyed the 2 raking goals he scored against Motherwell which shut their boo boys up for bit.

The good doctor is nearly as good as Cloudie but you are right they were a good bunch of players.

I wonder if they ever got paid though = pub club!

And the PBS will never be redeveloped.
bruno1960
wjr,the pub team actually gave us a much tougher game than the other wee team we beat[sorry, hammered ]in the semi.p.s the pbs will be redeveloped long before the hut you call the east stand

Spartans must have a great chance of beating Elgin. City are really toiling (like ourselves) so what do the Spartans think their chances of another cup upset are. Going to put them on my line anyway.

I can see Spartans stealing this one, they have a point to prove after their defeat at the hands of Dalbeattie and will want to get back to winning ways. The Star are firing on all cylinders so they should see off Forres with reasonable ease. Can't see Vale getting a result at Inverurie, top of the Highland League and with Vale struggling so far this season it will be a very big ask. Can't see City getting a result either as Brechin are doing well however they are at home so there could yet be a shock at Meadowbank.

Aye think spartans have a good chance against elgin and fancy them to get through, maybe a replay involved.

You been on the sauce already saying star will see off forres with reasonable ease, get a grip man. 3-1 forres. Mon the can cans!!!

You sound like a real Spartans fan right enough.

I was surprised to read Jonny Seeley had become a Doctor of Urology- I thought it was his brother that was an expert in taking the pee!

Brechin were actually one of the few teams that the old City used to beat in the Scottish League- an omen?!

This is the wrong place probably to mention the Junior team left in the Cup but I was at Lochee United last week and the ground is a bit like City Park with a bobbly pitch and big grass banking on one side so perhaps those guys might be in with a chance of an upset against Ayr?
gallowsbank
If Annan can take 5 off Elgin without reply at Galabank. Spartans must be capable of travelling to Elgin and taking another 5 off them.

Spartans should go marching on.

Who else beat Gretna in that cup campaign?

Oh...

beating GrumpyPanner to it tongue.gif
I recall that only one team took more than one goal off them in the competition though- Preston Athletic.
