Heading off to see Jeanfield v Dyce next weekend in the junior cup. Heading from Glasgow but not sure where I'm going when I reach the big roundabout at Perth. Can anyone help with directions? Also, are there any decent pubs nearby the ground or would I be as well going into the town centre beforehand.

Predicting a 2-1 away win but hope I'm wrong!

When you hit the "big roundabout" (Broxden) take the first exit and follow this until you reach the Inveralmond roundabout. Take the 3rd exit heading into Perth. Go straight at the next roundabout, passing the BP garage on your left, and take the next left into North Muirton. You would have passed Volvo and Renault garages on your left. Stay on this road for a couple of minutes. It will veer left and right. You will See Jeanfields Riverside stadium on your left, just before a New Church Building and Perth Grammar School which is shortly after.

As for a pub. Theres a bar/restruant on your right hand side just as you'v came off the inveralmond roundabout. Next to Scottish and Southern Energy building and opposite the BP garage.

Hope this helps!

Helps??? Forty times better than I could have hoped for! Much appreciated.

Not a big fan of the far north teams so here's hoping 'The Jeanie' can go another round and perhaps even further depending on the luck of the draw.

Cheers

There's not much to it.

Yeah I had a look earlier today. I've been to 75 junior grounds now and compared to most of them it looks pretty decent. Basic but decent nonetheless. Anyone know why Jeanfield Swifts are so called??? It's such an odd name.

Just noticed that your team Burnie is Blackburn - my current tour of all junior grounds actually took me to Blackburn recently - the 2-0 cup win over Inverness. Good luck next weekend v Lanark.

Cheers. We hope to be able to carry out significant ground improvements in the next couple of years, the auld place is looking a wee bit "tired".

ground has improved now as those pics were taken when we had just moved in. pitch is now all fenced off with a covered enclosure running 2/3 of the changing room. for the commitee there is sky tv in the lounge aswell. pitch is one of the best in the league and is long and wide so hopefully we get a good day and a good game. we 5 unbeaten but not been playing well though we did take a point from st andrews afters being 3 1 down with 15 left and could have sneaked a win. anyone got any info on dyce?

Did the Swifts not have a good social club at one time or am I thinking of another team?

Here is a link to the Dyce website http://www.dycejuniors.com/index.html

They have been on a good run as of late unbeaten in there last 8, there a good bunch of guy's and am sure both committees will have a cracking day. They have had 16 wins and 1 draw in there last 17 cup games. Should be a close game.

Yeah, until it got burnt down! laugh.gif

New stadium is about a mile away from the old one.

If you decide to go into the city centre, get a bus from outside the Sandeman pub in Kinnoull Street. 5, 6, 9 or 10 all stop right outside the Jeanfield ground. You can then get a bus back into town, they're every five minutes. There is nowhere to drink near the ground except The Mallard bar in North Muirton. Drink in the town.
