Full Version: Halfway Line Flags?

When I first started watching football I'm sure every club had 6 flags like the corner flag with 2 marking the halfway line.

When did they stop using them? Were they banned? or just deemed not necessary?

What was the reason for them because surely the white line indicated each half of the pitch?

I thought they were optional. Maybe compulsory at one time way back. in my memory i only really saw them at big games like at Hampden.

Have always been and remain optional according to laws of the game

Do Alloa still have theirs?

Remember Davie Lowing trying all game to put their right winger through one. laugh.gif
