Down to 33rd in the FIFA rankings 20 places below our record high. I know they do not count for everything but worrying all the same.
Convenor
Unfortunately they do count for something.

They count towards our seeding for WC qualifying groups ( well they did for this one, might change in the future)
dubs
Probably more realistic though.

It gives a fair reflection on where we are at right now, We've beaten Iceland and failed to win at home to teams lower than us Norway and Northern Ireland in recent months.
Hopefully, we don't get too much of a doing from the Argentines next week.

The rankings actually mean something these days, helping determine which pot we'll be in for 2012 Qualifiers, Why are the SFA not looking to get a game booked for February, Get American Samoa - Surely we could stick at least one goal past them, get the confidence flowing.. cool.gif
dogma
TBF we were never really the 13th best team in the world, though we did have some cracking results in that period. We would never have had such a kind draw for this campaign without that ranking and it seems inevitable now that we will be handed another tough one for the next campaign as I dont see any prospect of us going back up the rankings. Even if we hit a decent run of form, wins against the likes of Iceland Norway and Macedonia will not gain us much.
Wug
I'd say we probably are about the 25th best team in the world +/- about 10 places. As dogma says, we were never the 13th best team in the world but this is around the lowest we'll fall to now. That said, I've no basis for saying we're the 25th best team in the world, I just kind of think that...
Gallows Bank
it's a bit confusing in how they calculate the positions on a point system
