ClickyThe first time I saw Chris Morgan play, I thought to myself - "Thug". Any player that flings their elbows about like he does should be banned for life.

Seen the elbow on SSN. Pretty horrible but to be expected from a total thug. If the ref got a good view of it, I'm struggling to think why it wasn't a red.

After watching the replays of it on Sky Sports, you can see :
1. it was deliberate.
2. Morgan is still an ar$ehole.
A fud of the highest order, it amazes me he gets a game at that level of professional football.

Thought that myself as well. He's a horrible, horrible player and is in the team purely as a hatchet man. Has a face that you would never tire of punching as well. Hopefully a very severe ban will ensue for this thug.

Was Morgan not punched or elbowed in the coupon by Lee McCulloch a couple of seasons back?

Aye Lee McCulloch left him with a belter of a shiner after refusing to take any of his psih while playing for Wigan a couple of years back.
When Morgan got interviewed afterwards I think he realised he had picked on the wrong person that time by saying something along the lines of "If you hand it out, you have to take it back too, so no hard feelings on my part."
Hopefully he will be as pragmatic when carried off with a career ending injury very soon, cnut.

That was a disgusting challenge.
He even looked at the guy and proceeded to lift his elbow up to a very dangerous height.
Surely this is worse than Drogba's offence and they guy should be severely punished.

Saw it today for the first time. Nasty, viscious challenge. And, what do you know, because the referee gave him a yellow (!?) the FA deem Morgan to have been suitably punished. So no further action will be taken.

That's a cop-out, Ben Thatcher was yellow-carded for his challenge on Mendes but it didn't stop the FA handing out an extra ban.
I see Hume has been re-admitted to hospital too.
Fuckin' unbelievable he is allowed to play at all.
How can that only merit only a yellow card???

Aye that is the same as Emmerson Boyce, he got a second booking for a challenge on Ameobi (I think) and was sent off, it was never a foul never mind a yellow card, the Ref (Andre Marriner) has come out publicly and said he made a mistake yet because it was a yellow, nothing can be done and Boyce will still serve his suspension, its ludacrous.

I'm sickened by this - on the day the guy needs to go back into hospital, the FA bottle out of banning this thug. I hope Barnsley sue him for every penny he has.

Of course not. It's a disgraceful decision. Actually, it almost makes it worse that it was deemed a yellow card and not a complete accident. As far as I'm concerned it was a deliberate act of violence and ought to result in a lengthy ban.
The fact that a yellow card was deemed suitable punishment - and somebody has already referred to Ben Thatcher's equally brutish assault on Pedro Mendes which was upgraded from a yellow to a red - is a complete farce.
I'm not suggesting the FA made the right decision, I'm actually saying it is abhorrently lenient. But what I am saying is that they have reviewed the incident, and punished Morgan with a yellow card.

Agree totally!
I caught a clip of the "challenge" yesterday. Disgusting doesn't even come close to it. You saw the backs of the two players, the ball is in the air heading in their direction. Both players try and outmuscle the other by holding their ground. As the ball approaches, Morgan looks to his right to see where Hume is and then launches his elbow with some force into the side of his head / face with the ball still to be played.

That's not entirely true. It was already a yellow card offence. He was booked at the time. They reviewed it and found there was no case to raise additional punishment as the referee saw it clearly and it was not absolutely clear that the elbowing was deliberate.
I have to say having seen it, I wasn't utterly convinced it was deliberate either.
I have never ever understood how referee's continue to cop out on yellow cards for elbowing though. There's no scenario in which an albowing offence should result in a yellow card. It's either deliberate (in which case it's a sending off offence) or it's an accident (in which case it's unlucky, no action taken against the elbower).

Ben Thatcher - now there is a thug if ever there was one.
He used to bring his bulldog to training most days when he played for Wimbledon FC. The dog used to do the runs and join in the warm-ups!
