Rous Cup, 17th May 1988.
All I remember about it was it was crap, and Carlos Valderrama was playing. Can't remember what my first Airdrie game was, it would have been shortly after that. My gran lived just down the road from old Broomfield, so I used to go up when they opened the gates 20 minutes from the end and sneak in! After a few times doing that I decided they were the team for me, despite not being from Airdrie and all my friends supporting the old firm. I've been a regular since.

I'm so fucking old and dippy I can't rightly remember. I must have been 7 or 8 years old and my oldman P.C. plod took me down to Muirton one day when he was working. He took me in through the front door walked me behind the Florence place end and told me to stay there . I have no idea who saints were playing but it was pretty shit.It may well have been the season we got relegated from the premier league with hardly any points. He used to take me quite regularly after that and mostly it was pretty shit but I got hooked

8th April 1989, St Johnstone 1-1 Partick Thistle. Grant Jenkins scored for Saints.
My old man hadn't been to a game in years but went to the Scottish Cup quarter-final replay against Morton (our first big game in years) a few weeks before and I think I pestered him to take me to a game after that.
The week following the Thistle game was the Hillsborough disaster and Saints played Rangers at Celtic Park in the Scottish Cup semi the same afternoon. We didn't go to that and my first away game was 27th October 1990 when we beat Dundee United at Tannadice to hand them their first defeat of the season.
If any Saints fans want to know the date of their first game, I can probably trace it if you know the opposition, result or something...
Altrincham 5 Workington 1, 31st December 1977. Workington had been 1-0 up at half-time, Graham Heathcote scored a second half hat-trick. I'd have been six.

Ok, here's one for you, my man.
Phizzy Scott scored at both ends. Might have been Motherwell. Is that enough information? I'm pretty sure that was not my first but it was certainly an early one if not a figment of my imagination. Any help would be appreciated, Radders

First glance it doesn't look like it was Scott and it doesn't look like the team was Motherwell. Scott didn't make his debut until early 1993 and didn't score until the following season. In the home matches in which he scored, the opposition didn't. Our results against Motherwell don't really fit either! I'll have a further think though.

22nd February 1992. Wright with a double and Stevie Maskrey came off the bench to score as well. Redford wasn't involved that day, although he did score against Airdrie in a victory at Broomfield the following season.

My first game was Saints v Albion Rovers in a league game in 1986.

It would be either St Johnstone 2, Hearts 1 (I think we were losing at the break) or St Johnstone 5 Partick Thistle 1. Not sure which came first, but I'm sure both were in the League Cup in 1973.
[Edit actually thinking about it, first game was at Parkhead in January that year when Saints were humped 3-0 by Celtic. Like every other suggestible schoolboy in Glasgow, Celtic were my favourite team, but my Dad supported St Johnstone. Felt so sorry for Saints - and my Dad - that my allegiance had switched by full-time.]

At McDiarmid, Saints won 3-2 despite being down 2-0 i think to dunfermline, it may have been airdrie though! Paul wright got the last one (and possibly the first and second) in the early 90's probably 91-92. Missed two saints goal as i wanted a pie. Saw the winner though.
Decided Lindsay Hamilton was my favourite player because he was the first name i heard! Quickly changed to Paul wright after a couple of games though!!!

First time I went to a Thistle game was a pre-season friendly against an Aston Villa side including Sasa Curcic and Stan Collymore. It was either one of Dwight Yorke's last games before joining Man U or he'd just joined Man U. Think it was 1997 or 98. We lost 3-0 and I only really went because it was a Premiership team.

My first game was Morton v Dundee United in 94 or 95.
The home end at Cappielow was so full my Dad and I had to go in the Terror's end along with another couple of hundred Morton fans. My only real memory from that game was two Dundee United fans with bowl cuts (the trend at the time I believe) with orange and black beeds in them - even as a four or five year old I remember thinking how fucking gay they looked !

Remember Robert Prytz scoring with a diving header and Rangers fans doing the bouncy in the East Enclosure. They were presumably from the Psychic Rangers Supporters Club, as Morton fans actually invented the bouncy some three years later.
