We couldn't really have asked for a tougher opponent to try and continue our run against.

However, I'm clinging on to the fact that their last two games have been at home and they recently lost away to Alloa.

Peterhead did very well on their last visit to Starks but I'm hopeful that we can put that right. I can't see us keeping another clean sheet but I think we have enough up front to edge it.

3-2 Rovers.
St. Starko
After their triumphant local derby win, Peterhead will still be on fire. It'll end 5 - 1 to Peterhead as they continue their winning run which will continue until the end of the season. Peterhead for promotion.

Failing that....... MON THE PETEHEED!

Two teams totally on fire the now. Sure seems to be a cracker on paper, so will no doubt be a bore draw 0-0 as these sort of games usually turn out.
Yoss
Got a mate coming up from London for this, his first Raith game.
So I'm expecting us to lose.
lzreid
We'll not want to get thumped like we did at the end of last season and with Peterhead scoring 9 in their last two games. We may well look to snuff the game out. Probably with a couple of ball winners in midfield, I expect Ferry to drop out for Silvestro with Sloan being the only attacking midfielder.

Meanwhile the Peterhead boys will be cautious about the 3 strikers and not bomb forward as much. Bore game decided by a single goal either way.

Edit - Thinking about it properly, I reckon Ferry might drop out of the team and be replaced with Cook. Davo moving into Centre Mid ( sad.gif ) and Ellis moving into the centre of defence ( smile.gif ).

Surely you'd be looking for a Raith win to boost your clubs play-off hopes?

We'e on fire at the moment, but I'm wary that our run is going to come to and end at some point, and I think it'll be this week or next. I'll go for a 2-2 draw, Smith and Weir ( ohmy.gif ) with the goals.

ferry has been playing well dont drop him

Peterhead are doing well in front of goal at the moment, but I don't see why we should change our tactics just because of that. The 4-3-3 is working well for us at the moment, I wouldn't change it. Needless to say, our defence will have to be at it's best, hopefully Ellis will be OK after going off against EF.

It will be a hard game, but it's certainly winnable. I think we can win, but the cynic in me says we're bound to lose soon given we've now won 5 games on the bounce.

rw89
Extremely difficult game. Peterhead have several quality players such as Gunn, Sharp and Bavidge who have all been very good so far. Hopefully we will get the ball on the deck and play some quick football which could cause some problems to the Peterhead defense. Doubt the game will be as bad a scoreline as the time we last played Peterhead at home, largely in that we won't be playing a squad of under-19s and players who are were being given a final chance.

I'd expect us to line up 4-3-3 again for obvious reasons. As I said above, our pace will be difficult for Peterhead especially if they are playing Bobby Mann. Won't be an easy game by any means but I think we have what it takes to make it six. 3-1 to Rovers with Weir, Smith and Davidson scoring for us and Sharp scoring for Peterheid.

He's still injured AFAIK, which is probably why they are winning so convincingly in recent games rolleyes.gif

Dropping Ferry is not an option.

Although, we have to be wary that we can't go on forever without getting beat. But the system we're playing just now is really good, both team's like to attack. But i trust our defence, so i'll go for a tight Raith win smile.gif

"on fire" ?

Nah, i didn't see much in Rovers to suggest they were on top form. We were that bad we made you look good. You're decent enough but i wouldn't say any better than the other teams close to the summit. Close call and wouldn't be surprised to see Peterhead take something from this game.

In all fairness, we played terrible for the first half of the game at bayview. Only in the 2n half did we change things around and start playing decent.

I`m not denying that. A game of two halves. Our problem is getting back into the game once we concede.
I think we started of bright in the 2nd half but once the 2nd went in, heads went down and it killed the game. From there it was all Raith.
In saying that, 2nd goal was worthy of winning any match.

i'll fack of to an EF thread now cool.gif

Totally agree. After we scored I felt we had a burden lifted from us. The second really put it beyond doubt.

Peterhead have scored the lowest number of away goals in the league, and apart from the opening day win at methil theyve only managed to win one other game on the road, beating QP 1-0. I dont see them taking anything from Starks Park this time.

Ha! Both teams are very different from that game!

C'mon, do you really think we'll change the team for a home game v. Peterhead?!! I thought McGlynn would change the formation against East Fife but I was wrong, and the codheid's are NOT serious contenders for the title

As I said in the Alloa match thread, it's the Brechin game that will be the test of our credentials.

A free-scoring game with us winning by the odd goal in 5 & another 3 points in the bag!

We are both very different teams. We still have the same nucleus though and the same manager. The desire to do better than their last outing against Peterhead better be noticeable.

I don't want us to change the team. In fact I think the Ferry/Walker/Sloan midfield is our best bet for a good result. However, I think the manager will (rightly) give it some serious thought.

That's the team that started the 2-5 game against Peterhead. Wilson, Campbell and Goodwillie are the only ones that would get near the first team just now.
Peterhead are obviously no mugs and will fancy their chances but we have no-one to fear in this league.

I think so too. I wouldnt underestimate Peterhead, especially after what happened at the end of last season, but we're a better team now with a bit more firepower while theyve struggled to score on the road this season.

Fixed it for you. He wouldn't have a chance of breaking in to the current team. I suppose that the bench could be considered near the first team right enough.

I agree we are a totally different team. We simply gave up that day and the team don't seem to do that this season.

I wouldn't change anything about the line up. Fair enough if things don't go well then change things during the game but I don't see why we shoud change a winning line-up.

Rovers are on the back of a 5 game winning run, Peterhead are on the back of scoring 9 goals in two games.

Anyone else think this has 0-0 written all over it...?

I know this game has nothing to do with me, but, i feel as if Rovers maybe just to good for peterhead. If Ellis is fit for Rovers, it should be a masive boost because as much as it pains me he is a good player. tongue.gif

P.s who was the striker with the longish hair who played on saturday? He was pretty quick. If he's up against bobby mann, it should be a no contest laugh.gif .

That will have been the cheating wee shite that is Graham Weir ( wub.gif ). Sadly, I understand fatty is injured.
Ian Duff
I think rovers will put out the same team as they have done in the previous few games. If it ain't broke, don't fix it. I am going for 2-0 Rovers - Weir is due a goal for all his hard work (Looked like he could of ran for another 90 minutes at East Fife at the weekend) and Smith will add to his tally.

Quite confident heading into this one, as I feel the poor effort in this run was actually the first half last week at Ef. Two solid halves should produce two-nil result, Wales and Walker. Anyone know if McGurn is expected back in the team? sad.gif

f**k it, I'm going to be confident (This means we will get humped at the weekend) and say a 2-1 win for Raith. However, if McGurn is not in goals it could be a hard game to watch.
