Got no idea how this will pan out but a narrow win or a draw.

Another very arduous test for our team. The threat of Dobbie and O'Connor, argubly the division's most potent strikeforce, will be a stern one. Both team will have chances I think, so whoever takes them will win. We have Antoine-Curier in our ranks and he is on good form; since his arrival back from the International scene he has scored three goals in three and a bit games. His partnership with young Deasley is looking a fruitful one - combine Deasley's trickery with Curiers presence and goal-scoring capabilities and you have potentially a great combination.

Hopefully we can win this one as it would be another fantastic boost to the squad. It will be close but I think we can edge it. The game will be won in the midfield and I'm confident we have the graft and endevour in the centre of the park to do just that. Williams is as physical as they come and his presence will be important. Pozniak isn't afraid to get stuck in, so I think we have a battling midfield who will not be outfought.

I like the idea of Deasley dropping off and creating something. He adds another dimension to the squad at the moment, and I think he is a good link player to have.

Although young Kyle Benedictus has been phenominal for us, I still think it's too early for him just yet, and if MaKenzie is available I would throw him in. His towering presence is a must. That aside, I would have no problems if Benedictus played again.

Our captain, Eric Paton was back for the Dunfermline game. A great boost to have him back, so defensively we are looking sound.

I'm not sure if O'Brien will start this one. I would give a chance to Gilhaney, but perhaps he'll start on the bench - a very good option to bring on and change a game if needed be. I would start him, however.

I think the team will be the following:

---------------------------------------Robert Douglas----------------------------------------------

---Eric Paton---------Gary MacKenzie-------------------Craig McKeown--------------Eddie Malone---

----------------------------------------Darren Williams---------------------------------------------

--------------Freddie Daquin-------------Chris Pozniak----------------David O'Brien------------------

---------------------Mikael Antoine-Curier--------------Bryan Deasley-------------------------------

As I say, this is a stern test for our team. I'd be happy with a point but I feel we can win this one. I'm going to plump for a marginal 2-1 victory. I hope I'm right.

I think he has a chance to make the game, as he wasn't far away from making the Dunfermline one.

Paton is Dundee captain?! ohmy.gif . There must be very few leaders in the Dundee squad if he can just walk into the team and become captain!

Or it just illustrates our injury list even more?

Anyway, He's been a phenominal signing so far and his attitude is exemplary. What a player.

Freddy seems to be doing well.

Dundee to win 3-1

We will be queens bitchs no longer

I would settle for a draw on this one and increase our potential lead on Queens to 6 points and Dundee 12 points.

Once our injuries clear up it will be plain sailing, 3-0 win for us on Saturday. cool.gif

Ludovic Roy is club captain but can't get a game. Paul McHale is vice-captain but is injured. At the moment it's just a case of giving the armband to someone fit and relatively experienced.
Lando Griffin
Given our form I would go for QoS to win 8-2
BigAl024
There is plenty of experience in our Squad. I've no problem with Paton being captain. Or Rab Douglas for that matter.

After Saturday's debachle...Queens could either come out all guns blazing, or just carry on their current form and get humped.

Won't make a prediction until later this week, till we see what the injury situation is like sad.gif

Your injury list is going to grow and your going to go 9 games without a win wink.gif

Nah I think its going to be a tight game, but Im glad to see that a few Queens fans arent confident about going into the game. Hopefully Mckenzie will be back to add more experience to our side but If the young lad plays it will be his biggest test so far as Dobbie is one of the best strikers in the league..
Soccer Dark Blue
Dundee I think will win this one, 2-0. We need to get another three points and this is the time for us to finally beat QOS. QOS are on a mini slump at the moment and the manner in which they lost to Morton at home, 4-1, gives Dundee hope that we can finally claim a victory over them this season.

There was no need for Rae to add that last comical paragraph (Chisholm in the Premiership FFS) Dundee played the approach by the book, and if he had left it at 'Chisholm has signed a new contract, he is happy at QOS etc etc' then fair enough, but that load of shite got my back up.

I am not sure how that is comical either? All he was saying was if it had came from a team higher up than he was at now then he would consider it?

Anyway, was there any reason for you to add the exclamation mark to his quote?

The game will be won in the midfield

We're fucked then!

Sadly I feel I may be having a change of signature come Saturday evening sad.gif . We may have the best strike force in the league but our midfield is anonymous and our defence shambolic of late. Obviously the injuries and suspensions haven't helped, but I don't think Chisholm knows what our strongest defence is (the amount of different combinations that have been tried this season would certainly suggest this). Most successful teams I can think of at any level of football have a reliable defence at the base of their team. We don't, and it is having a negative effect on our goalkeeper as well, who is clearly low on confidence.

If Tosh carries on adopting this bizarre position somewhere between the full back and the midfield then Dundee will stomp all over us. It leaves Macfarlane far too much work to do, and as a result he hasn't been anywhere near as effective recently.

Chisholm attempted to soften the blow of exiting three cup competitions in quick succession earlier in the season by telling us that the league is our bread and butter. Well it's time the players starting performing in a way that suggests they understand this as well. The attitude of late has been awful, perhaps they feel they can only motivate themselves for the Scottish Cup and big European nights! rolleyes.gif

Why are the Dundee fans getting their knickers in a twist about a comment made by our Chairman, Jocky Scott was first choice after all, no?

Agreed.
If our defence plays like it did against Morton and Airdrie or if it is set up like it was against Thistle, I think we are in for a thrashing. I've said since the season started that we don't have centre backs capable of allowing us to challenge at the top. Signing Sives hasn't changed that.
I don't know what has happened to Tosh this season, but he gives the ball away an awful lot. The trouble is, we don't really have anybody else creative who can play in that position.

JT returns but others still in doubt for Dens Park

Team News

Jim Thomson returns after suspension and that will be 'music to the ears' of Queens' fans after watching their team concede four goals against Morton at the week-end. But manager, Gordon Chisholm, will still have his 'sorrows to seek' and states "Yes, big Jim will be back but we now have another defender, Craig Barr, suspended for the trip to Dundee.

"Bob Harris and Craig Reid will also miss out owing to injury and it will be a 'late call' on Craig Sives".

Yet another changed look to the defence then. Injuries and suspensions will all but guarantee Parratt and McQuilken start in the full back positions. It would also look likely that the much craved pairing of Aitken and JT will be used as well.

I'll be very surprised if Cammy Bell picks up his clean sheet bonus this weekend. sad.gif

Why? JT, like Sives, hasn't put a foot wrong this season. Apart from -

getting sent off v Airdrie to prevent a certain goal after his own mistake
causing a goal in the second minute v Nordsjaelland after fannying about instead of just dealing with it
scoring an own goal v St Johnstone
causing a goal v Airdrie away by failing to deal with a simple ball
getting sent off v Thistle after another mistake causing him to foul an opponent

Not to mention the countless times he gives the ball away by lumping it up the park to nobody, or just by passing the ball straight to an opponent or out of play.

And he probably is the best of our central defenders.

I assume you disagree with Bill Goldie's assessment that JTs return will be "music to the ears' of Queens' fans" then!? laugh.gif

I actually have more of an issue with the constant chopping and changing of the defence rather than the personnel that make it up. The injuries and suspensions have obviously played their part, but the suspensions are within our control and are a fact every team has to deal with. Why we keep getting so many injuries God only knows, are we just seriously unlucky, or is Chis working them too hard in training?

I applauded the manager pre-season for drastically reducing the all round age of the squad, especially the defence where it was very much needed. It is clear now that he isn't sure what our best back four is which the influx of defenders has to take a large part of the blame for. If you want to have a serious push for promotion it is the sort of thing which would be worked on and agreed during pre-season. I doubt changing goalkeeper a few games in helps either, even though that was the correct decision IMO.

Come January I would like to see a permanent goalkeeper signed (or the one that Chis chose over 2 others being played) and as consistent a back-four being played as possible. It is only with this stability can we get some sort of consistency and stop leaking the silly goals.

Thinking of heading up to this game on Saturday.

Can anyone tell me, as am 18 year old student, will I be able to get in for a concession, or will I have to pay full whack. £17 does seem a little steep for 1st Division football.
