Great news cos it means he's getting sold in January . The longer the contract the more cash we get for him to strengthen the squad.

Ah right so we cannot bring any new players in. I wasn't aware of that particular ruling.

Of course once that ruling is scrubbed, we should be going out and signing a left-back. It was quite unbelievable that we didn't do this in the summer.

ohmy.gif Perhaps we should be glad that Naylor's deal has been extended (alongside the "sensational" laugh.gif Caldwell)?

Because were Strachan to proceed to form, he would punt them and furnish us with a still-crapper replacement garnered from an SPL rival.

Failing that he would spend big money on a foreign player and then behave bizarrely towards him until his confidence and patience was utterly shot.

On this last point I sadly report to the forum the untimely death of Regis Genaux at 35.

I have often cited Regis as the absolute paradigm case of Strachan's rampant ego driving away talented players.

For those who don't know, in the 90s Genaux was a Belgian international right back who rose to prominence as one of Standard Liege's heralded 'three musketeers' alongside two fellows named Leonard and Goossens. Big Ron Atkinson pulled off something of a coup in attracting him to unfashionable Coventry, before Chesney took over and events followed the pattern which has become so familiar to those of us who have watched his Celtic tenure through our fingers.

Namely, he was ignored for weeks at a time, frequently shunted from his proper position, then bombed out again without explanation.

For his part Genaux quickly tired of Chesney's poor management and cleared off to Serie A Udinese within months - although not before he issued a withering put down which was right on the money:

"[I'm glad to escape Chesney's xenophobic] Scottish mafia".

Strachan then replaced him - at great expense - with a lumbering Ukranian oaf named Yevtushok and then treated him exactly the same! Of course Gary McAllister, Paul Telfer, Eoin Jess and, most laughably of all, Strachan's son Gavin continued to enjoy favour.

Later the excellent centre half Gary Breen was the victim of Strachan's pigheadedness when he was deployed at right back for several seasons.

so get rid of one left back and get another. One left back in the whole squad. mmmmm methinks not as i think a wee bit of competition would kick Naylor up the arse and maybe raise his game. Wilson has been playing there the last wee while but he is no left back

You are aware that we have had one left back in the squad for quite some time now, aren’t you?

I am suggesting that we bring in a quality left back or at least one that is better than Lee Naylor.

He has hardly been a ‘brilliant’ singing. Of course, this season and the latter part of last season he has been impressive and deserves to be picked on merit, unlike other players. Prior to that however he was average at best, prone to too many mistakes and played his part in a defence that went a monster 15 months without keeping a clean sheet away from home.

Fortunately, he does seem to have settled and wiped the erratic side of his game out. Let’s hope this can continue.

One things for sure, it certainly cannot be easy playing alongside Stephen McManus.

He cost you nothing, which is where I am coming from, yet plays like a 2-3 million pound player. I very much doubt his wages are a huge strain on the club either.

It was a great bit of business by Strachan.

I think you are possibly the saddest little man I could imagine. dry.gif

There can't be many anti-Strachan bigots left these days, but here you are trawling the internet trying to find as many things to "pin on" him as possible.

It's beyond belief that we are enjoying the best run of league titles in over 30years and you would like the man responsible for it hung, drawn and quartered. laugh.gif

The fact that you don't like him is now just growing tiresome. You bring nothing new to any debate. (Although a dead Belgian right back from the 90's is a twist I didn't see coming, so kudos for that one dry.gif )

So he hasn't gone out and bought a left back! Big fookin deal! How do you know that he hasn't tried to bring plenty players that for one reason or another have turned us down? No need to answer that as I can do it for you. Ready? ........you don't know. End of.

If you truly believe that you would rather have MON and 2 in a row as opposed to Strachan and 3 in a row and counting, then you should not be supporting Celtic.

You're a d1ckhead of the highest order and your little band of followers on here are dwindling day by day.

Cillian is a player with a good future ahead of him IMHO. I watched him a lot in the youths and also in the reserves and he knows the way to goal.

I may be proved wrong but I think the boy has a bright future in the game either with us or away from Celtic Park.

McManus is having a poor spell at present but not an awful one. He is not performing near his best but hopefully that will improve.

He reminds me a bit of when Neil Mellor came into the Liverpool team. You knew he was having a few moments in the sun before finding his actual level elsewhere.

Sheridan looks like a poor man's Craig Beattie to me. With of course a better Irish name, so deserving of more of a chance from the Strachan hating bigots.

Oh well then. Better play him for a while then.

Doesn't matter if he's been playing Kabbadi professionally for the last 5 years - either he is good enough or he isn't. Jury would appear to be putting him in the last two. Can only be saved by Louis Walsh or the public.

I don't think Beyemystic gives a hoot about how Strachan is feeling. You've just instigated a battle between the two most powerful feelings in Beyemystic's emotional lexicon; namely, the hatred of Strachan and the desire to be upset about something.

Not kidding wither but on the way out was talking about how thise were they type of games craig beattie was useful for. Big, strong and powerful and had a decent eye for goal, in Strachan's first season he almost had himself a regular start before getting injured.
