It had been too long without a good Griffiths' topic. Cheers mighdee.

no problemo.

He's injured himself again in training. Came back for 45 minutes against Morton last week, and is now injured again.

Going for a scan at the start of the week.

Our recent results have shown how much we've missed him. Really hope he wont be out for long.

Just confirmed on the Livi website - he's getting an op on Monday, probably out for a month.

It's been good news for every team we have played since the last time we played the Pars given that between injury and international duty he hasn't started a game for us. Exception might have been when he came on for the second half against Morton and turned the game in our favour. He is a big miss. wink.gif

This has to be devastating news for Livingston fans. Surely the best thing to do is to let him have a really slow recovery so he starts playing game's again in March/April.

My reasoning behind this is that, while young players heal quicker, it would be better since he appears to have "broken down" having taken a "normal" comeback.

If a teenager is the difference between winning Division 1 and not winning it then the world has gone to pot.

A player's career is, in my very limited opinion, in serious doubt and surely Livingston must not jeopardise this for their own short term ambitions

LIVINGSTON boss Roberto Landi has confirmed this evening that young forward Leigh Griffiths will require his second operation of the season after picking up an injury to his left knee.

Sparky is due to go under the knife again next Monday after suffering a similar injury to the one his right knee was operated upon for only a few months ago.

The exact cause of Leigh's injury is unknown after he broke down in training, but Landi puts it down to the striker being put through too much work too soon after returning from his previous operation.

"Griffiths went to play for the Scotland U19's in Hungary very soon after he came back from injury." said Landi, "He came on for us against Queen of the South as a sub and then he went away to play for Scotland.

"Then he played 50 minutes against San Marino and played from the start in the other two matches, so he played three games in six days.

"It is my opinion this is why he may be injured now, he played too much. But I cannot back this up with fact.

"It was obvious to me when he played the second half against Morton he wasn't ready to play too much, but he came on and tried his best.

"When you come back from a big injury and have an operation in the knee like Sparky did - and after being out for four weeks before training, then playing as a sub for us, then going to play for Scotland, then playing for us again from the bench, it is a lot of stress on his body.

"I can't rewind the tape though and prevent it from happening, so we will just have to cope without him and hope he recovers better this time."

Above is from the Livi official site.

I don't think he will be rushed back. Going away with the international squad when he did was not ideal either.

I would go further than that, and suggest Livingston never play him again.

That would be like Partick not playing Buchanan again.
