Great to get back to league duty and a great win for Spartans. I couldn't make it as recovering from "man cold" - you know the sort that makes you forget when trying to wind up Edin Uni that we were humped out the Image Printers Cup ages ago - I'll take my slaps from Sammy like the twat I am.

I hope Spartans Regular was at the game and can post a match report later.

But delighted for our 3 scorers, Gavin Malin carrying on from cup duty, Struan who has worked so hard in our SC games but particularly delighted to hear Keith McLeod scored.

It's been a tough season for Keith with injury so that will be huge lift for him and for all the rest of the guys - Keith McLeod - the Spartans "taleban"!

Great comeback from Easthouses and also great to see Danny Noon score for the Preston Doos - did I read that right Danny, was it a penalty you scored?

Coldstream made Spartans fight all the way for the victory but were helped a bit by the various changes made by the Spartans management.I am not a big fan of squad rotation & would argue why change a winning team, particularly when they produced an outstanding performance last week at Annan.Spartans started brightly & created several opportunities but they lacked any real fluency & some players appeared to be unsure of their role, resulting in some alarming gaps in front of the back 3.Gavin scored another cracking goal with a fine shot from about 25 yards out & Spartans were comfortable at this point.Coldstreams main threat came from set pieces & Brydon was always dangerous when the ball was hoisted into the Spartans box.
Cloudie started slowly but the longer the game went on the better he played & the more he looked like his old self.Struan got the 2nd goal & spartans were coasting until a bad defensive error let in Coldstream for a soft goal.Coldstream then had a real go & Spartans were on the back foot for a while with the Coldstream sub causing problems for the Spartans defence with his pace & trickery -it was just as well his final pass was not of the same quality as the rest of his play.Cloudie got the goal he deserved in the final few minutes following good play from Omar who livened up things following his late entry to the game.
A good 3 points but it could so easily have been 2 points dropped. Will the tinkering continue against Lothian on Saturday ?? I would like to see Spartans strongest team on the park for the next 3 difficult games against Lothian, Dalbeattie & Elgin to let them get used to playing together & build up a better understanding .Having said that what is their strongest 11 ? answers on a post-card or e-mail to ML.Finally congratulations to Easthouses & Preston for their wins on Saturday & well done to Danny Noon -hope the goals keep coming ,apart from when you play Spartans.
