Not sure of the venue but its definately on a Sunday. Not really strange either as last years final was also on a Sunday.

Cheerz didnt realise that, is Spartans ground open yet? If not will it be Meadowbank or a more neautral venue, lets say Gala????

With it being Gretna and Tynecastle, and Gala having a free weekend then Netherdale would seem a fair choice travel wise. Also has a decent stand for fans and has turnstiles. Just out of curiosity, who gets the gate money??

Cant help you with that 1, halvers would seem the sensible option, I can see Gretna taking 400 approx, should be a good game Tynie seem to of turned the corner since their mauling at the Everholm?

Sunday is a regular date for EOS finals - holding it on Saturday means neutrals, EOS officials, fans of other clubs, media etc. have more difficulty attending. IMO it'll not be at Ainslie Park - a recent article in The Scotsman stated it will not open until early December, with the grass pitch on the main arena delayed further. Meadowbank would perhaps be unlikely - if you look back through time, the local authority venues are seldom utilised. When did Meadowbank last host a cup final?

Netherdale is a frequent final venue, it hosted Annan v Edinburgh City last year. Other "regulars" include Fergusson Park (Whitehill), Victoria Park (Vale of Leithen), Riccarton Campus (Heriot-Watt), Pennypit Park (Preston Athletic). Islecroft at Dalbeattie also - though perhaps unlikely for this tie.

The gate money might be divided in portion to clubs, though the FA may retain a portion, and a fee is given to the host club (unless they waive it). And deductions have to be made for match officials, stewarding if required, organisation fees etc. The Alex Jack Cup has no sponsor = no prize funds.

The crowd is an interesting issue. Tynecastle are a big membership club; Gretna have big fanbase.

For me Ferguson Park would be a good venue for this. Only if we can have some pies.

EOSFA confirmation: the Final is at Netherdale Stadium, at 2pm, on Sunday 30th November

Also: Saturday's tie Civil Service v Craigroyston, now at Craigroyston (Muirhouse may be flooded)

The Alex Jack Cup Final has always been on a Sunday as far as I can remember. Meadowbank is unlikely to be used as a venue because it costs a couple of hundred quid at least to hire per match and the EOSFL have to protect their finances. Mind you, a healthy gate would probably pay for ground hire anyway but never mind..
I went to the Peebles v Easthouses Alex Jack Cup Final years ago and it was played at Ferguson Park at the end of November with a risky 2.00 pm kick off. The match went into extra time and then penalties. The penalties were taken in near gloom around 4.15 pm with the streetlights on in Rosewell High Street... Peebles won, only because they'd been eating their carrots I suppose...
