In addition to those mentioned above, I have to admit I once laughed so much at a Ken Dodd show, I got a stitch in my side.
About 25 or 30 years ago I made my annual pilgrimage to Wembley but was there from the Wednesday and my mate and I wandered around the west end looking for a place to have a few beers or see a show. We ended up in some nightclub which was quite full and very expensive. The act that night was Bob Monkhouse, and only knowing him from game shows we were going to leave just as he came on so decided to wait until the interval. I'm glad we stayed because he was superb. His material scanned the whole range of jokes from the silliest pun to the filthiest of blue. It was a masterclass.

Frankie Boyle is a legend! Its how he pushes the boundary of what is acceptable and knows it. He has a funny little look in his eye when he knows he done it.
Peter Kay would have made my list if he'd ever actually done anymore stand up. As it is hes done one show at various places with the same material, and no stand up since.

To be honest I cant believe so many folk put Peter Kay in, 1 hour of material in 10 years does not a great stand up make.

I put him in because he was the first stand up i watched over and over again, he got me in to stand up comedy in a big way. But i would agree that it is crap that he has no new shows or new material. Even if you watch him on comedy store when he was younger its the same jokes he does.

He hardly pushes the boudarys. He is the poor man's Jerry Sadowitz. Jerry is a far FAR better 'comedian' that the unfunny smug git Boyle.

According to a survey by "online bank Smile" the nation's favourite comedians are:
1. Peter Kay 2. Lee Evans 3. Alan Carr 4. Catherine Tate 5. Dawn French 6. Rowan Atkinson 7. Al Murray 8. Jack Dee 9. Eddie Izzard 10. Frankie Boyle
Some shockers on that list - Dawn French?! I also fail to see how anyone has ever laughed at Lee Evans.
Also, the nation's least favourite comedians are:
1. Jo Brand 2. Jonathan Ross 3. Victoria Wood 4. Ricky Gervais 5. Harry Hill 6. Jimmy Carr 7. Paul Merton 8. Russell Brand 9. Spike Milligan 10. Alan Bennett
No surprise to see these two highlighted.

Brilliant... someone else who has seen the legend that is Kevin Bridges - seriously the funniest stand up i have seen. When i saw him there was a table in the audience that werent getting into it at all so naturally fair game for the comics. One guy at the table happened to be the drummer from wet wet wet. Kevin being from Clydebank got tore into him for being in Wet Wet Wet with the immortal line "Marti Pellow... the only cnut who LEFT clydebank to become a junkie"

. i guess some people cant handle comedy where you actually have to think. instead they'd prefer lee evans who gets laughs by doing an impression of a retard after every joke.
