I know Dunfermline have a game tomorrow to look forward to but I thought I'd start this one early, nevertheless, (It seems to be the tradition these days).
A very difficult game for us, but I sense this is a game the boys will look forward to. Dunfermline don't have a great home record, so there's always a chance, although they are a very decent side. It's going to be hard, that's for sure, and Dunfermline will be favourites, rightly so. Hopefully big Gary McKenzie is back for this game because we've missed his towering presence badly. We should, hopefully have our first choice defence back for the game:
Eric Paton, Craig McKeown, Gary McKenzie, Eddie Malone.
That would give us a massive boost. It looks like we'll have to contend with the midfield injuries though, with Paul McHale, Darren Young, and Colin Cameron still sidelined. I'm not sure what the situation is regarding Rhian Dodds. Nevertheless, we will have Darren Williams, who had a great game at the weekend sitting infront of the back four winning everything, aswell as young Eddie Mearns who also put in a great shift at the weekend. The return of Eric Paton would free up Chris Pozniak, also. I would begin the game with Mark Gilhaney and Freddie Daquin, with David O'Brien making way for the former. Upfront, I would go with Antoine-Curier who has scored two goals in his last two and a bit matches, aswell as young Bryan Deasley who worked his socks off at the weekend.
I think/hope the team will be the following:
----------------------------------------Robert Douglas---------------------------------------------
---Eric Paton-----------Craig McKeown----------------------Gary McKenzie----------Eddie Malone---
-----------------------------------------Darren Williams--------------------------------------------
-----------Freddie Daquin-----------------Eddie Mearns----------------Mark Gilhaney----------------
----------------------------Antoine-Curier-------------Bryan Deasley-------------------------------
Chris Pozniak may still play, but I think that team would about the best we can hope for. Darren Williams is a great communicator for the likes of Mearns, and his experience would be invaluable.
I'm going to be optimistic and plump for a 2-1 victory to the Dees, but my head is telling me a battling 1-1 draw.
What way do we see this one going?
Edited to add: Ray Farningham, according to the tele has been appointed as assistant manager. Great news on that front.
Also, I believe our next four games will shape our season. We are away to Dunfermline on Saturday, home to Q.O.S. after that, then it's St. Johnstone at home and Livingston away. If we somehow managed to take approxamitely 9 points from those games, then we'd be going into Christmas being, at worst, 6 points off top, I would think.
That's a big ask though. I'm more content with just getting our first win in a while, and moving up a few places in the league.

St Johnstone fans; they're like the 9/11 bombers of Pie and Bovril, they've got to voice their opinion and hijack everything.
Looking forward to this one, who knows what will happen. Tuesday's result will mean a lot for the Pars in this one I think. A defeat or a draw and I think the heads could go down, injuries may also be a factor. It's the best defensive record in the league up against the worst scoring record, although the Pars are hardly prolific themselves. I don't even want to predict a result. I'm not confident and I'll just be glad to get to a game.
Note how I chose the game against the big football team to fly over and see. Saint or Dees? Saints or Dees? Saints or Dees? Pseudo middle class bores who think they are educated because they made it to 6th form or pub loving lads from Dundee who actually did go to uni? Okay Dundee.

Look, I said if we can accumulate at least 9 points from these games, then we can consider ourselves as being back in the race, albeit as exteme outsiders, which suits me. I have also said it is more important to get our first win and hopefully move up a few places.
We most likely wont win the league or even be challenging, but if somehow we can muster at least 9 points from those games, then there's no reason why we can't be there or thereabouts, especially as we will have a few players back from injury at that point.

it's quite funny following saints fans posting around he threads just now, usually one fan proclaiming them as unstoppable followed by another telling them to get hold of themself. i would tend to agree with the more cautious approach. the two finishes aside, i couldn't say i was as impressed by saints as i expected to be.
anyway, the dundee game. i've said in the thread for the Airdrie game that i hope for 4 points between the two games given that our squad looked quite tired on saturday (Bayne spent most of the game sliding about on his knees). that's if we're to remain in the hunt for the league, i fear any less than that could seeing us heading for a bit of a slump. 6 points, and i'd be ecstatic. having played most of the previous games against both teams with 10 men and taking a point from both, we should enter both matches confident of a result. We were probably lucky to get the point at Dundee but, equally, we should've taken all 3 having completely outperformed Airdrie.

I thought in spells on Saturday we were pretty average, particularly in the period between Moon's injury and half-time. After Craig's goal, I thought we stepped it up a bit and looked a decent outfit. Realistically though, you aren't going to go to Dunfermline and play your best football.
I don't think there are many harder games for Dundee than this Saturday's and it might be a case of the performance being the main positive again. Early days for Jocky Scott yet though.

TBH, I don't think we have 2 goals in us but I wouldn;t mind being proved wrong. We certainly worked as a team on Saturday, and a result against Dunfermline can really kick-start our season, I hope.

For me the season is anything but over, it is just beginning. If we can muster 6-9 points we are in with a chance, although it will be tough. I realise that this is almost impossible but the word almost tell's us a lot.
Dunfermline will always be up and down no matter what kind of run they go on.
Queen's usually have a dodgy period that ruins there chance's and that could quite possibly be just now.
St Johnstone are what worrie's me most however, as they should normally be having there bad patch right now, however they aren't.
This post sound's a lot of if's and but's and quite frankly I may sound deluded but there ain't nothing like a bit of faith and a lot of luck.

braw, three points away to Airdrie so 1 point of ma target. hopefully saints'll get a bit to big for their boots on saturday and be brought back down to earth by County who actually played the best football i've seen from any one so far this season although they were completely punchless in the final third. Queens drop points and a win would see us go top. glad to get the game in hand out the way, they always weigh heavy on the mind.

You were playing against 10 men for most of the game!
Anyways onto Saturday's game and hopefully we've got a bit of confidence back after beating Airdrie tonight. Woods and Harper went off injured so they'll be doubts for the match, Calum would be a big loss for us, Harper not as much as Wiles can easily take his place and do a good job for the team.
However, if both players are fine then expect an unchanged side from McIntyre as he doesn't make many changes to the starting eleven. Our home record this season isn't as good as it should be, in all honesty it seems like we play better away from home though hopefully we'll sort that out this weekend, it will be a massive win for us if we take all three points, to keep the pressure on St Johnstone.

It's a different ball game away from home. The impetus is on the home team, and they will try and attack as much as often, leaving the visiting team to work hard and catch you on the break. The fact is, away from home the home team takes the game to the visiting team, usually.
