Well done Ed City and Spartans.

HibeeJibee
Forres Mechanics v Dalbeattie Star
Inverurie Locomotive Works v Vale of Leithen
Elgin City v Spartans
Edinburgh City v Brechin City

Congratulations also to Gretna 2008 and Tynecastle who progressed to the Alex Jack Cup final today.

Very great result today for all East league sides in scottish cup. Especially for me Spartan who made a great come back it seem from 1 goal down. Great to see 4 East sides in the Round 3. How many do Highland league have left????

Seen a bit of the Vale game, wasnt the best of matches but the Vale probably deserved to win imo. Couldnt c Civil getting back into the match after 1 of their players were sent off.

Good results for Edinburgh City, Spartans and Dalbeattie Star.

I felt Vale just about deserved the victory on the basis of looking better in front of goal. Plenty of decent approach work from both sides, bur often let down by poor balls into the box and 'powder puff' finishing.

C.S. were already fighting a losing battle when 10 saw red, and I felt that was the final nail in the coffin.

Vale will have to raise their game a notch or two when they travel to Highland country.

Civil v Vale was a very tight game and you always felt that one goal was going to decide it. Civil put plenty of quality balls into danger areas, but had no one putting the goalkeeper under pressure and were just generally punchless upfront. Vale did what they had to, but I felt that a few key players were a bit off-colour today.
Interesting that there were a few noises of complacency coming from Inverurie when the 3rd round draw was made - the manager and chairman were both quoted on the Highland League website as basically saying they were delighted to have drawn either of the two weakest teams in the competition - and I don't think what their spies saw today will have changed that view. Maybe I'm just on a high after the result today, but if anyone thinks Vale will be travelling up there just to make up the numbers, they're very much mistaken.
