Hi

I would like some details about the first football match I ever went to. I remember some of the details, but not all.

It was Rangers vs Dunfermline at Ibrox, and the score was 4-1 with Ian Ferguson getting a double, and McCoist and Laudrup getting one each. Can you tell me anything else about it? Who else was playing that day? What was the date?

What a brilliant day that was though, my dad and I went to the trophy room afterwards and we met Ally McCoist, and I also got a shot of Andy Goram's gloves!

Thanks,
Sean.

Can I ask the same questions as the poster above but in relation to my first match?

My first game was a Premier League match at Boghead between Dumbarton and Aberdeen in 1985 roughly. I remember Aberdeen won 2 nil and I still have the Dumbarton programme autographed by Sir Alex Ferguson!

Cheers

Think the "Sportscene" highlights of that game are on You Tube so you should be able to get all the info you want from there.

Well I had no chance of seeing my first game either on you tube, STV,or even Al Zarera but thanks to a good mate I have the programme from my first game and I was well chuffed, Stranraer V Partick Thistle, League Cup 1971 but it would be great to know the score as I was only 7 and no chance of knowing anything important, like the score- but I know Stranraer got beat.

I'm having difficulty pinning this game down. The only league game I can find with a combination of those scorers was Rangers 4 Hibs 3 on 7/12/96. McCoist got 2, Laudrup and Ferguson 1 each. Rangers and Dunfermline did not meet in cup competition at this time either.

You may be getting two matches mixed up. As cmontheloknow says, the scorers match a Hibs match but I can show you the result with the wrong scorers.

This page of matches might help.

If the lad met Ally McCoist then it wasn't the above game as he was at Rugby Park that afternoon playing for Killie against Motherwell!
