The lighting and the steely contrast is amongst the best I've ever seen in a B&W film. Even on TV it is superb but on the big screen it is simply awesome.

Saw it on the big screen a few times and you're right enough. The only shame was that the prints started to show the dirt on them quite clearly after as little as a week. The price of such a stunning contrast I guess.
