It's a guarantee the OF will be kept apart in this draw.

Game time is a midweek game at night, possibility of trouble, and with it being night, alot of people will be drunk and spoiling for a fight. Whereas avoiding that and keeping us apart means if both qualify, a Saturday game, they can make it a 12.30/3 KO and wont need to worry as much about people being drunk out their face by that time.

Rangers Vs Dundee Utd

Celtic Vs Falkirk.

What a damning indictment of OF fans.

Is it a Sunday this year? I could have sworn it was a Saturday last huh.gif

Anyway the point is, the Police would rather a weekend game like that, than have us clash at quarter to 8 on a Tues/Wed night, where trouble could ensue due to fans getting drunk before attending the game. It's happened before, and would no doubt happen again.

Some fans just let football dictate their lives too much, I love my club but ffs I'm not gonna hit someone because my team beat theres of vice versa. mad.gif

It's been on a Sunday for years.

At least as far back as the Coca-Cola Cup days, when I first started taking an interest.

We have played each other numerous times in midweek this century, In fact 4 out of 6 seasons between 00/01 and 05/06 and that included 2 semi-finals at Hampden..

Maybe the police forgot to have those draws fixed rolleyes.gif .

Something tells me, that we had to choose one of the OF.....Then I wouldve chosen Rangers.....
magoo82
I would have preferred Rangers given our record against them but that's life. We've made life difficult for Celtic since Levein took over aswell and we've got to beat them some time.

The last draw I wanted. Really can't be fucked with having to travel to Glasgow for a midweek game to watch the game on the big screen.

I'll get two tickets by default but will almost certainly try and offload them

Hate games against either half of the Old Firm, was hoping for a match against United at Tynecastle which would have produced a better atmosphere. sad.gif

Still Falkirk v Dundee United will make a quality final. wink.gif

The Celtic game should certainly be being played at Tynecastle or Easter Road.

Totally agree. A rammed Tynecastle would make for a majestic atmosphere.

Unfortunately another souless mid-week clash at the National Bowl awaits sad.gif

Indeed.

Part of me however does support it going to Hampden. What with it no doubt being broadcast live and with an attendance of 15,000 or so it will look woeful on tv. Hopefully another nail in the coffin of this tournament.

'Screens just big enough so that you can almost see what is happening at the other end of the ground' would probably be more accurate.

The problem is that Scotland doesn't have the right size of stadium for this sort of match. We need one with around a 30,000 capacity but we either have to play it at one with less than 20,00 capacity, which thousands can get tickets, or we play at one with a capacity of over 50,000 where it's left half empty.

According to the BBC Falkirk on Tuesday the 27th and United on Wednesday the 28th but our 'fishul site has the date as to be confirmed.

We''ll coast this. Celtic 1 - 4 Dundee United. I reckon we'll sell out or allocation for this midweek fixture in Glasgow in Winter not long after Christmas that's on cooncil TV.

Your semi final against Motherwell a few years ago had 32,000 at so I don't see why this one won't have around the same figure.

.......and our last semi-final against Dundee United in this competition attracted less than 20,000.

No matter. The fact remains that a stadium with a 30,000 capacity isn't needed for our cup semi-final. It may be desirable but then so too would a stadium holding a capacity far more than 50,000 were the two favourites in the semis get to the final.

A soulless, half empty Hampden Park or a filled to the rafters stadium which would generate a proper atmosphere. It’s not really a hard one.

I'd still think there'll be more than 25,000.

.........so what? I’d rather have a semi final played in a stadium filled to the rafters than one with 20,000 empty seats in a ground not designed well for that. If that means that this may knock back people from going then that’s though luck. As I said the travelling support for each club could be catered for twice over – indeed more than that. Why should some gloryhunter suddenly matter?

Well at Celtic many certainly are.

Out of interest, are you equally concerned about thousands of Celtic season ticket holders missing out on cup finals when we play diddy teams in finals, at the expense of opposition fans that rarely, if ever, go to games?

Obviously when we play in a cup final I want as many of our fans there as possible but I do think it's ridiculous that thousands of Celtic season ticket holders miss out while United fans who almost never go get tickets with ease.
