When is the Draw? is it tonight after the Celtic game?

Dont care who we get, we will have to play the old firm anyway if we want to win this cup (unless offcourse kilmarnock get through)

I want Falkirk at McDiarmid. I'm not sure I could face getting spanked 12-0 again by the OF at a half empty Hampden.

Edit - The draw is tomorrow isn't it? Hopefully they'll manage to draw the games without making an arse of it this time rolleyes.gif

The worst thing about that night was that I watched it at the Union in Dundee. Think I was outnumbered about 100-1, surrounded by Rangers "fans" who all seemed to be from Northern Ireland. None I spoke to had ever even been to Ibrox, nor was there any chance any would go the final, but they nonetheless felt the need to celebrate each goal in my very close proximity.

As for the draw, I hope for Falkirk or Kilmarnock, though realistically (if both there) the Old Firm will be separated in the Semi "draw" I suspect...

Come on Killie!!

Theres no way the game will be at McDiarmid Park for a Bairns-United game. There were almost 12000 at the Killie-Bairns semi 2 years ago at Fir Park and United have a bigger support than either us or Killie.

Tynecastle or Easter Rd would be the choice I reckon, if the draw gives us the tie anyway.

I'm sure that the SFL will have the Rangers ball heating in the oven and the Celtic ball chilling in the freezer as we speak.

If we get Falkirk then i'd like it at Dens Park but it would sell out and it wouldn't be fair on fans who want to go but can't get tickets.

Our recent record at Tynecastle would make it the ideal venue for us though.

Why are United fans even mentioning Dens Park?

1 capacity isnt big enough (10k?)
2 Its right next door to you lot and im sure FFC would contest any such suggestion.

In terms of travelling, East End Park maybe a shout but even then, im not sure what there capacity is, 13k?

Edinburgh is obviously closer to Falkirk however is much more sensible capacitys, ie around the 17k mark.

We played Aberdeen at Tynecastle in last season's semi-final. Aberdeen's travelling support is considerably larger than Falkirk's -i'm not having a pop there, we both know it to be true. The game attracted 12,000 fans.

If we play Falkirk there then the game will do well to break the 10,000 barrier as neither club has a particularly large travelling support and a league cup semi-final isn't a particularly big game.

Dens holds 11,800. I'm not too arsed about Falkirk complaining about being in Dundee because we've had to go to Glasgow plenty times to play the OF in these games. The issue is whether it would be big enough and the problem is that if it was at Dens then Utd would probably sell rather a lot of tickets and the game might sell out which is an unsatisfactory situation.

Ironically, the game could be played at Tynecastle in front of 8,000 people to ensure that everybody who wants a ticket gets one instead of playing the game at Dens in fron of 11,800.

East End Park holds 12,000 which would be ample imho. The problem with East End Park is that Dunfermline isn't easy to get to by train.

Anyhoo, the game might never happen wink.gif

I agree about the travelling aspects, as teams have to travel to Hapmden all the time for these games however thats due to capacity needs rather than location.

If Dens were to be touted at 11800 then EEP would be the preffered location as its simialar in capacity to Dens and is about half way between Tayside and Falkirk, kind of.

In terms of transport, your right, Dunfermine aint the best however when has that stopped the SFL before.

Our semi 2 years ago was at Motherwell which is even worse than Fife in terms of trains etc.

In respect about numbers, assuming the 5500 we had at Mwell were to go again, then EEP and indeed Dens would be ok. However 5500 is your ST base and is clearly not enough.

Bus as we`ve said, lets wait for the draw laugh.gif

I really can't be arsed with having to get to Edinburgh for a midweek game. I was thinking that Perth was the obvious choice but Dunfermline is a good shout because it's the right size and is about in the middle of Dundee and Falkirk. Knowing Scottish football it'll be played in Inverness though.

Anyone out there who can relate to the original post?

Edinburgh or Dundee would be a walk in the park to get to, compared to Motherwell two years ago. The game kicked off 1/2 an hour late because both sets of support were stuck on the M74 and there were guys still coming in at 1/2 time! It would have to be Tyncastle though as we took 6K to FP. I'd imagine Utd would take 8-10k.

We all know there's no danger of us drawing each other. Bags Celtic though, we've a rotten record v the Huns.

Theres a rumour going round that the draw is on the 12th November

It'll take the SFL a full week longer to concoct a plot that would put Guy Fawkes to shame.

Sounds good to me. Our record against the Sellick is woeful. We've a much better chance of beating 12 man Rangers.

Oh dear......
Kenny_Jnr
12th November! FFS, how hard is it to find an SFL representative to the witness the draw and any couple of randoms to make it. This is just inconvenient for the clubs and the fans, should have been made last night. mad.gif

It is easy to to and from Dundee by train....just get a train to Inverkeithing and then from there a train to Dunfermline..
