As you will know by now, Dumbarton play Ross County and we play Clach.

I will be leaving from Glasgow and invite all Dumbarton fans to ditch the usual boring bus and take the train, departing from Queen Street at 8.41am, arriving in Inverness at 11.59am, cost in total is only £20 if you book it as 2 singles.

Quite a few Stenny fans will be getting the train from larbert to Inverness, and both our trains have to change at Perth, so I won't soley have to tolerate the Dumbarton fans for too long laugh.gif

Shakey and Kylesons are both probably joining me, so why not make a better day of it and take the train biggrin.gif

I'm almost tempted myself- I was praying we'd draw Clach and me and a few mates would be on this train and stay in Inverness on the Saturday.

I did say almost tempted. Stirling's a good away day, up early on the train, pre and post match beers in Stirling then back with a chippy / kebab on the train in time to hit Glasgow town. So I think I'm going to stay loyal to the PTFC cause on this one.

If we'd got Livingston, Clyde, Morton or Airdrie away (or obviously Ross County) I'd definitely have joined you.

if it's 20 quid i'm in!

do you have to book the tickets before hand or can you get them on the morning the train leaves?

£20 is for an Advance Single, so it obviously has to be booked in advance. Not entirely sure how long before that is, though IIRC it's less than a week.

Maybe more of a point for the Dumbarton fans, but trains north of Inverness are not as frequent, and you'll probably need to catch the service bus from Inverness to Dingwall. They run every hour !
Also the same back to Inverness after the game

Glagow to dingwall is 11.70 single both ways.

Problem is you dont get a train from dingwall till 19.34 and are not back into glasgow till 23.39

Im sure we'll manage to fill the time from the end of the match till the train no bother. As for arriving in glasgow at that time, suite me perfectly as i live there, just enough time to get the glad rags on for a night out biggrin.gif

Also checked my calender and i get paid the day before this game, so count me in. biggrin.gif

Sainsburys are giving scotrail vouchers away if you shop there you can get a return ticket from any two stations for £15.

Which is even cheaper than single tickets either way.

We stayed over in Inverness on our last visit to Dingwall. 4 in my group missed the train and got a taxi to Dingwall which wasn't that expensive.

Its actually £15 if you get a voucher from Sainsburys. The bus is handy and I appreciate all the work the trust does to ensure that these buses go to away games, but just for this one i'd like to try something different.

couldn't agree more, would be nice to get the train for a change. the last time we all done it to coatbridge was fantastic. i expect this to be 100 times better as it's about 100 times the distance

Fudge in not wanting to be a loner on hour and half train to Perth shocker.

If the Apache Army don't get the train and take the easy option of the bus, they will be the laughing stock of 3rd division fans for being boring queers, too scared to go against the wishes of their bus convenor and afraid of a little adventure.

I agree as well.

The train is very cheap (compartively to what I thought it could be), and it means that we can have a different sort of away day. And as BBPF says above, it was great to Coatbridge, so should be even better to Dingwall! biggrin.gif

Jesus, how sheltered are you lot? Have any of you ever taken a train anywhere before?

'Advanced single'. No vouchers or anything like that needed. It was £10 last time i checked but has been reduced for some reason. That is through www.thetrainline.com.

Not sure just exactly how far in advcnace you need to book it though.

Kylesons says there are loads of busses too and from Dingwall so you will be back in Glasgow around 10pm ish, not midnight as previously thought.
