Full Version: Jcd Keen To Prolong Ibrox Stay
The Pie Shop > SPL and SFL Football > Rangers v Celtic, Celtic v Rangers

Rangers striker Jean-Claude Darcheville is desperate to get among the goals so he can stay in Scotland.

The Frenchman hopes to convince Rangers manager Walter Smith to extend his two-year stay at Ibrox when his contract expires in the summer. The 33-year-old made an instant impact when he signed for the club but has found first-team starts harder to come by this season.

"The club haven't said anything to me yet about the possibility of extending my contract," he said.

"If I score a lot of goals, maybe the manager will give me one more year.

"I played in France for 13 years and don't want to go back there. I love the fact in Scotland the stadiums are full wherever we play."

Darcheville netted 15 times last season despite rarely playing 90 minutes after being troubled by injury problems, especially an Achilles strain.

But he has yet to score this season and was an unused substitute as Rangers won 3-1 at Hamilton on Saturday.

"I'm disappointed with myself because I know in the time I've been at Rangers I've never given more than 60% of my capacity because I've had problems," he added.

"(As well as injuries last year] there were a lot of times I had to play on my own up front and I need a partner.

"This year, though, I've been working well because I have had a good training programme that I've never had before.

"This has been my best form in Scotland because I've been working hard."

If he hangs on long enough maybe him & the Nacho could be a potent strike-force for Scotland ? dry.gif

Darcheville fancies French switch

QUOTE
Rangers striker Jean-Claude Darcheville could be set for a move to Marseille after admitting he is ready for a return to France.

The 33-year-old has found himself down the pecking order at Ibrox this season but still has faith in his ability to perform at the highest level in his homeland. Speaking to Aujourd'hui Sport magazine in France, the former Bordeaux frontman hinted he would jump at the opportunity to sign for Marseille.

"You can say what you want, but Marseille will always be a legendary club," Darcheville said.

"If such a club contacts you, inevitably, it's not the sort of thing you could ignore.

"I have the required qualities, I know the French championship well and I scored goals."

Darcheville, who is out of contract with Rangers next summer, has also been linked with a move to Nantes.

How long till he claims to have been misquoted?

It would be best to try and get a fee for him in January. If we had qualified for Europe it could have been different but we have more than enough strikers to fulfill our requirments in the competitons we've qualified for this year.

Anyone else fancy chipping in to help pay his wages?

He is tremendous comedy.

I think we should pay someone to take JCD off our hands. Surely one of the worst players to be at Ibrox in recent years. The poor man's Ted McMinn.
The Great One
Lots of you seem to forget what JCD put into your UEFA cup run last season. When you had 9 defenders and relied solely on him for attack.

He has been kept out of the team by other players this season, played a couple of games but most strikers require an extended run in the first team to make an impression, gain confidence etc.

Sell you him on a free, and you only have to pay £400/500 to his wages. biggrin.gif

Is it true he still hasn't completed a full game since he signed?

Manchester is his only full game for us.

i like his goal celebration, (which is now seen on very few occasions). Apart from that he lacks ability.

That should be interesting. They're obviously going for a "no goals from up front" kind of attack

Darche joins Valenciennes

QUOTE
JEAN CLAUDE DARCHEVILLE admits he'll always be a Rangers fan after he agreed to leave the club and sign a deal with Valenciennes.

The striker has ended his time at Ibrox and will return to France on January 1, where he'll team up with former Light Blues hitman Filip Sebo at the Ligue 1 outfit.
