Hello all

Just wondered what the average travel time was for players in the HL, seems to be some massive distances between clubs - Fort William and Wick for example.

Do they always travel up on the morning of the game?

Cheers

Almost without exception, teams travel on the day of games. Some recent incidents outwith this include Locos flying to Wick for a game, and I believe Buckie stayed in Inverness one evening ahead of a game with the same opposition. Clubs made more effort for Scottish Cup games, although that was as much to do with the logistical impossibilities of getting from Brora and Wick to Newton Stewart in one day. laugh.gif

As for the morning of a game, you want to try getting from Lossie to Fort midweek, as we've had to do three times in five years, due to Forts pitch being rank and us being half a mile within the travel boundary of 110 miles. On at least one occasion the manager has done the team talk on the bus while the players started getting changed.

The standard of road in the league is a disgrace west of Inverurie as well. The road between Inverness and Fort is tiresome at best, but going north to Brora and Fort is soul-destroying.

I wouldn't have thought so, although I've not really been paying attention since Lossie got binned. They'll have travelled the night before and stayed in a Premier Inn or similar, as they did in the last round.

Travelling isn't the worst, as we only play each other twice a season, so you only tend to have to do the long haul trips the once each, maybe twice if the cups are unkind, but the better sides should be looking for those trips anyway as the poorer teams are at the end of the road. It balances out when you consider the bulk of the Moray teams play on each others doorsteps, and the Shire teams are not much further spread out.
