The winter has started in earnest, has any of the P&B'rs been out Grayling fishing yet his year?
Any luck?
Where were you fishing?
I have had a few on the dries when the trout season was still on.
I have also been out bugging and nymphing and a had a couple of nice grayling this morning on the Tummel.
What flies work best for yourselves?

As long as you are not one of the "grayling" fishers we often see on our beat of the Earn. You know the ones, 10ft spinning rod, 20lbs breaking strain line and a shimano baitrunner reel! Mmmm, wonder what they are up to!
Personally have never tried Grayling fishing, not got the gear for it.

Yeah, there is a few of them about unfortunately!!
Nope i am one of those weird golum like people you would never see, hiding in bushes over the xmas holidays, casting a dry winter olive pattern over the water whilst dying of hypothermia

I've never trid Grayling.
Funnily enough I was just thinking the other day there that I haven't seen a fishing thread on PnB at all.
Time to start a General thread I think Squidger.

I have also met some genuine grayling enthusiasts on the river, but they are few and far between on our beat when the Salmon season is still open. It certainly takes dedication and a lot of patience. and some very warm clothes!

Loads of grayling in the upper clyde. Anywhere from near garrion bridge upstream you'll catch them. Greenwells glory used to do the trick.
Was a member of the upper clyde for a few years. gave up tho. Never caught anything of decent size. loads of salmon parr and 3/4lb trout. Only hooked into 1 salmon at garrion bridge but lost it after a couple of jumps when it threw the toby.
