Films are oftern critisised for having a poor ending. Which had a good one!?

1) The Graduate, in my eyes, perfection.
2) Das Boot, probibly expecteed me to say this, but what a cracking and un-expected ending. When the camer pans out, oh my...

Can't think of another 3 now, over to the masses...

I wholeheartedly agree with you on this one, one of the greatest war films ever made, if not the greatest.

Whatever ends Spawn, as it ends it.

Only one I can really think of just now is Mirrors as I went to see this two nights ago.

The Crying Game
Dunning1874
1. The Godfather II
2. The Shawshank Redemption
3. Pulp Fiction
4. Life of Brian
5. The Big Lebowski

I'm well aware that none of these are particularly brilliant and it could be argued are cliche(how do you get an acute accent above the 'e' on here?), but I'm not really switched on right now and couldn't care less. tongue.gif

The original Solaris ending is pretty mind blowing.

Sixth sense

Bruce Willis is dead and is a ghost.

Now it's the most shite ending.

The final scene in Peter Sellars 'Being There'

1. and the film ending that I freely and unashamedly admit makes me cry everytime...

Field of Dreams..."Hey Dad...wanna play catch?"

2. Planet of the Apes..."Damn you all to hell"

3. The Graduate...although a film is nothing unless it's been spoofed by The Simpsons

4. Butch Cassidy etc...

5. Memento...but then it's not really an ending, it's a beginning

Paisley Plumber
The Sting ...... best/most memorable by a country mile imho
The French Connection
Bridge Over The Rive Kwai
Jaws
Doctor Strangelove

Quadrophenia, he jumps off the cliff but at the start he comes out of the water.

Unbreakable was a better ending, when you realise Samuel L Jackson is responsible for the tragedies all to try and find the one guy that doesn't get hurt

Or does he. The scooter goes over the cliff but nobody knows for sure if Jimmy follows it.

Of course he doesn't jump off. Not unless he had loads of handy climbing gear at the bottom of the cliff.

However, since the film opens with a shot of Jimmy walking back from the cliff edge, he presumably jumped clear at the last second.

Maybe not a 'cool' suggestion but Casino Royale's ending was pretty damned good! And the ending to the Italian Job was a literal cliffhanger.

Cannot believe anyone could say Unbreakable. It is one of the worst films I have ever seen. For people to actually watch it to the end is an achievement in itself. As for the Sixth Sense that was pretty obvious. To be fair to the director he's made a great career out of absolutely fucking shite films. The Village was nearly ok, but Signs was a fucking joke of a film. M. Night Shyamalan has done well for himself. Basically, he has been a jammy c**t!

We all joke about Shamalamadingdong, but in truth Unbreakable and Signs were pretty good. Okay, The Sixth Sense was a terrible film IMO (but it has enough people that like it) and Stuart Little was a big success with the kids.

The end of Saving Private Ryan - when the Mustangs attacked the Tiger tank on the bridge - caught me cold and Cavalry to the rescue is just about the oldest plot device in the movies. I didn't expect that from a film that manages to be full of cliches and remain brilliant.

Nkosi sikelel' iAfrika at the end of Cry Freedom is a hell of a way to end a film that gets you (well, me) thinking. What a song.

i thought the ending in the prestige had a very good twist at the death
