Stay. Im confident he will get it right. He has made mistakes thus far that he can only learn from. Willing to stick the neck out and say that we will be in the play offs next year. 9 points from 3 home games is achievable and looking at Norway, who seem to better away than at home, we are capable of going there and getting a result.

Go.

he should have went after Macedonia.

but he starts one up vs norway at home using a player that's not suited to being a lone striker and would have prefered a striking partner.

he's blown any chance of qualifying.

then.. the whole debacle of burley's comments about boyd. the arse never learned after his comments about broadfoot's lack of ability.

Burley GTF!

I maybe wrong, but from what i've seen of Broadfoot's game is that if aynthing he has worked harder to prove Burely wrong, and tbh if Burely had came out to say that Kirk was the greatest full back in the world with all the good looks of a male model, then we would be all calling him crazy.

IMO, I think Burelys tactics were confusing at best, wrong at worst. If Chris (cant spell the surename) had sloted that chance home, we would'nt be having this descussion right now.

Shows how thickle football fans can be at times.

Burley is 3 games (competitive) into his reign and i have to say the sign have not been promising ...

last sats game he left mcfadden out to dry in a lone role up with little support ... Morrison in behind him nevr really supported and barry robson along with maloney were constantly cutting into 6ft 4" players with no where to go! ...

yet he still claims his tactics were spot on ... he brought on 2 strikers that have one cap between them prior to the game and left our most prolific scorer on the bench? there is no justification in that ...

however...

he has a 3 year contract, it would be too expensive for the SFA to sack him now plus they will want to hold out as long as possible in hope that he can turn it around so they themselves dont come out looking like the bunch of twats which they clearly are. If he were to be sacked how could we then afford for someone to come in and do the job well??

so i am undecided ... edging towards GTF

Burley is a dud. There is zero chance he will get it right.

And I hope you havent got any money riding on your prediction. There is no chance we are going to be in a play off. We will finish fourth.

I don't understand all the criticism he is taking for playing McFadden as a lone striker, given that Smith and McLeish both did this, and received no criticism.

Smith and McLiesh only done that against the France and Italy the 2 world cup finalists
Burley has played 3 competive games and dragged us backwards when we were going fowards.
Buy the euro 2008 qualifer DVD and you'll see it was mostly 2 up front.

I don't think it would make sense to rock the boat during a campaign.Give him till the end of the qualifiers and then decide if his team selections and tactics have been good enough throughout.Still alot to play for i hope.

buckfast69
na got to give him a chance,

we are only 3 games in ffs, I expect us to lose in the dam anyway but after that we are more than capable of taking maximum points,

even if we where to sack him who will come in and take the reigns, could the sfa afford anyone decent, bearing in mind, if burley gets the boot the sfa will be duty bound into paying up his contract

Stay, who else would take it better than him?

Thats the question that will have people coming up with really stupid answers.
Moyes? yea! on £3million but would manage Scotland for £400,000
Ferguson? To stupid for anyone to realistically suggest I would hope.
The only possibles would be; Billy Davies, Mark McGhee, Craig Levein and Jim Jefferies and I think Burley has proved himself as much as any of them. Burley will be manager until the end our qualification campaign at the earliest.
Our real problem is we don't have a good enough squad of players to compete regularly with the best although we have a number of young players with potential. Some fans need a reality check, look where our players are playing their club football, is it top quality European teams? No! half the players are not even guaranteed a game for second rate teams, you need to have realistic expectations.
Judge Burley at the end of the group, until then get of his back and support him and the squad that are proud to represent their country.

should any manager who ends a game with broadfoot having played 90 mins at left back and graham alexander in central midfield despite being allowed 6 substitutions still be in a job?

Of course they would. What utter nonsense the very reason people are calling for Burely to go is that he has only won 1 game in 7 ( and that only by iceland strikers having an off day ) Neither McLeish nor Smith had such a bad record despite having far stronger oppostion in competitive games put up a much better show and despite their © defensive formations their teams scored a shite site more goals against good teams than Burleys have against mediocrity.

Got to admit...when the job was available, Souness was the last person I wanted in.
I thought he might damage the confidence of the younger players.

After watching Burley through the gaps in my fingers and cringing every time he speaks, I've changed my mind.

Burley has lost the Scottish spirit amongst the squad.
He has no motivational powers, as we've seen by the lack of buy-in from the majority of our best players.

Burley must go, and Souness must come in.

At least he has the ability to motivate people....his tactical skills aren't the best but....he will only have players who want to play for the jersey.

Burley out, Souness or me in please smile.gif
