I know there are enough FIFA threads, but this isn't for discussion just mentioning something very specific for the PC version of this questionably bad game.

For some reason EA released the game with a f*cked up joypad config file. For me (well for a friend, I've not got it installed on here) it resulted in neither the through ball or the slide tackle controls being set. Going into the game controls section and trying to set them resulted in "empty" being shown instead of the control. To solve it...

Make a backup of your //FIFA_INSTALL_DIRECTORY/data/input/devdata.dat

Then download this file..

..and replace the original devdata.dat file over it.

That solved the problem.



edit: @SF.. there is now a keyboard/mouse control option in 09 on the PC..

What do you think of it on the PC Ric? Ran pretty poor on my machine (stuttery).

Better than 08, still not next gen enough though.

I never noticed any slow down, he was running a similar setup to me (P4/3Gz), just a slightly better card.

What I did notice is that you still can't shield a ball coming into your feet, and that the players still bounce around the pitch rather than run.

I thought the FIFA 09 PC Demo was absolutely awful compared to FIFA 08. I don't think slide tackles worked either.

If you were using a joypad through then it could very well be this problem.

Of course I was. Can't STAND the keyboard.
