What a game today between the top 2 teams in the league! 6 well taken goals by Queens with Livingston also scoring a screamer!

Livingston were terrible at the back, and their keeper is just awful!

Rocco Quinn had about 2 touches the whole game, and didn't look interested at all!

Couldn't fault any members of the Queens team, couldn't pick a stand-out as everyone was excellent! smile.gif

3 tough away games to follow though! dry.gif

WOW indeed !! What a result.

Thought Queens would win this one, but thought it would be tight tbh.

Well done.

Incredible win, well done. All the more better following Livi's Champions League aspirations proclamation in the Press earlier today.

That was a great result today we played really well.It was 6 going on 10.Why can't we win the league if we stay clear of injury to key players we have as good a chance as anyone else.

What a result. Game was played in truly awful conditions. We got off to the most amazing start, Dobs getting 2 within the 1st 15mins. Livi got back into the game through a screamer fro Mackay but never really kicked on from that. In all fairness there was only 1 team looking like scored, a we duly obliged bang on half time through Weatherston(with a big helping hand from the Livi keeper). 2nd half saw Livi completely fall to bits. We could have had alot more than the 3 added by Weatherston, McQuilken(what a goal) and Burns. Elliot saw red and deservedly so. Poor foul which merited a yellow card then he stupidly mouths at the ref and leaves him no option but to produce a red card. That pretty much summed up the afternoon for Livi.

Good, healthy crowd of over 3,000. Just hope the don`t go expecting these results every week.

Summing up a great team performance for Queens with so many stand outs. Picked Burns as my mom as I felt he did so well down that right hand side, causing Livi no end of problems. He did upset Dobbie though when he scored instead of squaring it to Dobs for the hat-trick!!

We can win this league Dumfries....boy.

We have a great chance with what is a great squad.

I think I saw this season's champions today at Palmerston - and I don't mean Livvy. Awesome stuff.

Having been in Wick until the early hours of Saturday morning the chances of me driving from there to Dumfries was remote to say the least. When I saw that McPake was out I decided not to bother and went to do something else instead. I only checked the final score. For all the talk on here by certain individuals about certain attacking players they are far from the most important players at the club. We only have one and that is McPake. He stands head and shoulders above every other player at the club and I would even extend that to the rest of the league. With him in the side I go into games confident of being able to get a result but without him we are a shambles defensively which impacts on our entire game as the midfield falls back to try to cover which leaves our attacking players isolated. McPake is key for any success we might have this season which makes our complete lack of any cover for him coupled with his contract issue a major headache for the club. I have no idea how we lined up today but if we did not have MacKay in central defense and instead shuffled everyone else around then Landi needs to take a long hard look at himself. Now I fully expect idiots from other clubs to come in here delighted that we have been 'knocked' off our perch (etc) but by doing so you are only showing your ignorance of McPake. He's been missing before against a variety of teams so you should have firsthand knowledge of what his absence results in. A result like this, against a team in top form I might add, should be of no surprise. To say we are a one man team would sadly be correct.

My prediction of QOTS as champions, with St Johnstone as runners-up is looking more and more plausible as the weeks go on.

Well done Queens. We're not going to go up, so I'd quite like you to get promoted, despite how good the trips to Dumfries are.

Fantastic result especially with argueably your best striker on the bench!

top marks for Dobbies most outrageous overhead attempt. lifts ball over one defender, then another, then sets himself up for the overhead kick. fluffs it. then injures himself. what a way that would have been to complete the hat trick biggrin.gif

No-one in their right mind would have discounted Queens from winning the league this season. They were poor when I saw them at EEP earlier in the season though, and there's plenty of football to be played yet.

This promises to be one of the tightest first divisions for a long time, and only a very brave(or stupid) person would bet a lot of money on a team to win it at this stage.

Most people rip Innes a new one. He's barely an improvement over dross like Strong, Tweed, Tinkler and no doubt many other OAP central defenders that I have managed to erase from memory... It's been a major weakness having a central defender with zero pace and a turning circle that would put most supertankers to shame.
kirkyblue2
Was expecting a tight match today, not sure if the weather played a part but Livi's defence was shocking.
Hope Dobbie is ok after his daft attempt at an overhead kick and I'd like to thank Chisholm for playing 4-4-2, what a difference it makes.

The Ross county game was moved to a midweek home fixture due to us being in the UEFA cup.

How come Q-O-S have played six home games so far this season?

We were initially scheduled to play 5 home and 4 away in the 1st quarter. The away fixture with Ross County was postponed with their agreement in advance of our away game in the UEFA cup. When the games were re-arranged County didn`t want to miss out on a Saturday home game so the midweek match was switched to Dumfries. As a result we now have 6 away matches in the 2nd quarter including 3 in a row as our next 3 matches are at Airdrie, Ross County and Thistle.

The first half was more even than the second - granted. But to suggest you were the better side is kind of silly. We scored three and had another couple of decent chances. I don't think I'm being unfair in suggesting that your cracking goal was the only time you threatened.
Clinical finishing? The lack thereof was what kept the score to single figures.
Not meaning to sound arrogant, but I don't think I've ever seen such a one-sided league match in my life.
I'm well aware though that the only way now is down.

I thought we were poor second half in the league game at EEP but we were decent first half and could have been ahead by more than 1-0 at the break.
We completely dominated the Challenge Cup match though it should be noted against a significantly understrength pars team.

A terrific game if you are a Queens supporter. To win 6-1 against top of the league Livvie must be one of the all time great league results. The pressure was on and once again they delivered

I think youre right, you probably were the better team in the first half, certainly in terms of possession. However, McKays (sp) great goal apart, you offered no threat up front whatsoever. Elliot was very poor, far more interested in jumping into people than going for the ball. Quinn was totally non exisitant and the rest very average, the number 4 apart who looked good before he went off.

I guess many Livvy fans will point to McPake as the key to this game, and its not hard to see how they topped the league with him and an in-form Griffiths in the side. However, I dont think either would have made any difference to the result today, the score maybe but not the result.

We do have a tougher second quarter coming up, but the three home games are all winable as are the trips to Airdrie, County and Dundee. If we can take anything from the trips to Partick, saintees and Livvy I can see us still being around the top come the half way mark.

One quarter in and we're sitting top, with the best defensive record, the most goals scored and the top scorer in the league ... happy days biggrin.gif

I thought that for large parts of the first half we kept you penned in your own half, and some of our passing and movement was really positive. We took off our best midfielder early on in a stupid substitution and we went downhill from there. I think had we not conceded that goal right before half time the second might have been a different story. Still, im not taking anything away from Queens who played really well, especially in the second half. its really sad how our team can fall apart when missing one player sad.gif

what can u say to this result, queens were really good.i knew at some point someone was going for a hiding and wot a day to do it. from the start of the season our play has been indiferent, due to injuries etc we havent yet hit top form. but today we hit it. dobbie had the ball in the net 5 times only 2 counted, 2 glaring misses when i thought it would be better taking the shot rather than trying to walk the ball into the net. livingstons goal was a belter but jamies 25 yard rasper was better still. not going to get carried away though because it can all go pear shaped in a instant. if livi were the best team in sfl b4 today the were ripped apart by the best today. dobbie by far the best striker in this division. What a game, I never thought I'd have walked away saying "6-1 to QoS flattered Livi!" biggrin.gif . First half was even with QoS taking 3 of their chances, we had a couple more but failed to take them. Livi scored a peach, great strike and I applauded it myself. I felt Livi passed it around well but failed to carve us open. I actually thought QoS were pretty average in the first half but still got 3 goals! ohmy.gif . In the second half we started to play how we can and scored 3 without reply, Mackay's goal was going to be my goal of the day but McQuilken had to go one better with a wonder strike! Dobbie went apesh&t with Burnsy after the goal! Hope he isn't seriously injured! Good to see Sean back.

As much as I was not trying to say Elliot was garbage in a previous post, after watching him today I think if I had meant that then I wouldn't have been too far off based on his performance today smile.gif . He was rightly sent off for clapping in the referees face. I thought the group of 7 year old in the Livi end made a good bit of noise tongue.gif , but after the fourth they decided to call it a day.

Pity about the weather as I think there may been at least another 500 there had the weather been better.

I think our home games will be key if we want to win this league, away from home I don't fancy us as much but if we can keep a good home record who knows? Maybe we actually can win this league!

Great game, good attendance, good noise from Livi, good result and good to be top!

The 3rd goal right on half time was crucial. Who knows how things would have gone without that goal but let`s make no mistake the final score in no way flattered us. Livi were ripped apart second half. We now have a bit of depth to our squad and for the first time in I don`t know how long we have some genuine pace which makes us a real threat. Livi clearly missed McPake and Griffiths (Edit to add I`d forgotten Griffiths came on as sub) who are both good players but every side in the division has had significant injury woes. I`ve watched way too much of QOS to be anymore than cautiously optimistic but we are certainly in the mix at the top end of what will no doubt be a tight league.
