got the chance to get sky hd for £49 instead of £150 is it actually worth getting hd,or isnt the difference noticeable??

the difference is noticable, especially on sport and nature programmes

it will (IIRC) add another £10 a month on to your bill ... for another 7 or 8 channels

not sure about the adding extra onto my bill,i think i may get it for free for a while,but will check later on

I got Sky HD a few weeks ago mainly due to the fact I had to leave Virgin as I had moved house.

Sky HD looks fantastic on the discovery and sports channels.
You get 20 (ish) HD chanels for an extra ten quid a month.
You may want to wait a while as Im sure theyll add more chanels as time goes on.

Three or four of the other movie channels are getting the HD treatment from next month.

As for getting HD, well I got the box last year, and it's great. My previous telly was full HD compatible and things like the football looked tremendous. My current telly isnae as good HD wise, but the picture is still miles better than SD.

If your telly can handle upwards of 1081 HD resolution, then don't hesitate to get it.

Sky HD also makes the non-HD channels appear better than they do on a normal Sky+ box IMO. No idea why

Its because they are upscaled to 1080i, rather than 576, works on teh same principal as an upscaling DVD player.

Its only £5 a month for 6 months just now with new subscriptions for sky HD, and theres 10 new HD channels coming this month.

A lot of the content on HD channels too isn't HD but actually upscaled SD too! Things like sport are HD.

Most HD channel are HD. Sky one HD, channel 4 HD have the highest percentage of non HD material.

Sport is about 50/50.

Some HD movie channels were added this week.

There is another 3 to come this month, sci fi and horror, family and comedy as well as reall lives hd.

If you're getting the box for £49 go for it

They'll either want £30 or £60 installation and it's an extra tenner a month but if your TV is a minimum of 1080i it's well worth it as the HD stuff only transmits at 1080i at present

Also can transmit in 720p. (better for football incidently).

CAn you honestly notice the difference?

I know all the theory why 720p is better for fast moving images etc, but I've tried flicking between 720p and 1080i while watching football and couldnt really notice any difference
