I've had a wee notion tonight to try another wee elastic tenner bet. If you don't know what the hell I'm on about, basically the idea is to start with a tenner, placing it on a short priced football single and, assuming you win, punt all of your new pot on another 'sure fire winner' and so on and so on until you have a good few quid. It is acceptable not to punt your entire pot on your next bet once your balance is up a bit. In Sept/Oct 2007 I got 6 (I think) bets up on the trot and managed to reach a peak of £198 from a tenner.
See here for the previous thread on this topic to give you a flavour of what I'm on about.
Anyhows, my first bet is £10 on Cowdenbeath to beat East Stirlingshire @ 1.6 on Betfair. Potential new pot balance = £16.
Go on. Give it a go!!

Ok decided to give this a go, and put my £10 one Barcelona playing away tonight. They won (1-0 nervious game by Barca, should have known better

) so that leaves me with £15.33 to play with. Looking at the up coming fixtures, can't see any stand out bets on Monday so Tuesday card it is. So far these fixtures have jumped out.
Birmingham vs Crystal Palace @ 1.57
Sheffield Utd vs Southampton @ 1.57
Leeds vs Leyton Orient @ 1.50
also looking at
Scunthorpe vs Southend @ 1.72 However both Scunthorpe and Southend have an unbeaten record at the moment, so unsure if to go for this one or not. (Scunthorpe 8 games unbeaten, Southend 6 games unbeaten). Will confirm my bets by Monday night.

Went for Leeds and a 2-1 win gives me £23 to play with, with the two matches on Friday grabbing my attention.
Tranmere v Crewe at 1.61 - Potential winnngs = £37.15
Reasoning - Tranmere sitting nicely in 9th with Crewe at the bottom of the league without a win in 6 games (2 of the draws). Looking at the fans message boards, the talk is that the manager is clueless and they have this marked down as his last game.
or
Grimsby v Bradford at 2.10 - Potential winnings = £48.30
Reasoning - I try and avoid the away teams, but Grimsby have been shocking so far (still without a win and only 5 points on the board) and sitting down at the bad end of the table in 21st. Bradford on the other hand had a good start to the season, winning 5 out of their first 6 games, however since then they have only won once in the last 6, (losing 3 and drawing the other 2)
Each match has the pro's and cons, so it's a bit more research until I make my choice, will update Thursday evening, if not then then most likely I'll wait till the weekend.

In exchange betting terms, 'laid' means backing against the outcome.
The way you worded your post made it lok as though you had backed against Udinese.
I imagine that's not what you meant, and you did an Udinese/Milan double, but I can see why it has been interpreted the wrong way.

As Tom has said, if you bet on them both to win their matches, then you backed them, if you bet on them both to not win their match, then you laid them.

Now doing my own syndicate with that and started with the first tenner the other weekend on Dons which didnt come up. Now the eight quid will be stuck on dundee to beat morton at 6/5 to return me £17.60
Balance now at £32

a nice solid 2-0 win for Tranmere gives me £37.15 to play with. So far I have seen these.
Everton v
Man Utd @ 1.57
- No real explantion needed to be honest, but as I'm looking for the next best thing to a dead cert, Man Utd come really close
Rochdale v Aldershot @ 1.80 - Rochdale coming off a 6-1 over Chester, yet over the past 4 games, have lost one and drawn 2. Aldershot are now 5 games without a win suffering a 5-1 defeat last away to cheseterfield week.
Norwich v Doncaster @ 1.72 - Norwich has been in poor form but a good 5-2 win over Wolves may signal a change in form, Doncaster have been without a win for 8 games now, including a couple of heavy defeats
a couple of others which need more research, but will more than likely pick one form above.

Went for the game above, most people are giving the game to Norwich and looking for a decent odds to increase the funds.
Potential Winnings £64.17.
UPDATE: Norwich came through and leaves me with £64.17 to play with. Will put £10 aside so if need be can start again so adjusted total is now £54.17.
Sundays card does'nt give many options, avoiding the Cup game I can only see
Arsenal away to West Ham @ 1.61. Also see
Pompey at home to Fulham @ 1.72. Will have to wait to see how I feel but currently thinking of giving tomorrow a miss, I cant see both of those being absoulte stick ons if I'm honest.
Off Topic - How the hell do Ladbrokes have Spurs as fravourites over Bolton, that seems a strange one to me.
Mackie The Staggie
Oct 27 2008, 21:45
Well just goes to show i should stick to gut instinct instead of putting too much reasoning into my bets. BotH Pompey and Arsenal doing enough to win their games.
Anyway, onto Tuesdays card - so far I've seen
Crystal Palace v Nottingham Forrest @ 1.61 - Potential return = £87.51 - Forrest on a poor run at the moment, sitting plum at the foot of the table. Crystal Palace form is not too bad the last 6 games ( D/W/W/W/L/D) compared to Forrest (L/L/L/L/D/L)
Millwall v Hereford @ 1.53 - Potential Return = £83.06 - 3rd Place Millwall hosting Hereford, who find themselves 23rd in the table. Only slight concern is that Millwall have a slight tendency to ship the odd goal or two, but I think they should be too good for Hereford.
Wycombe v Macclesford @ 1.53 - Potential Return = £83.06 - Top of the table and unbeaten Wycombe take on Macclesford, who are sitting in 17th and have lost 4 out of their last 6 games (L/L/W/D/L/L)
Not sure who to go for here, once again though, sticking with the home teams.

Feck me that was a close one, leaving it late till scoring. Still a win is a win, and judging by the other 2 I had put aside, once again dodged a bullet.

Kind of neglected this for a week or so, but over the weekend I had my fund @ £124 wish I stuck on Brechin @1.72, which got me £215.
I then decided to halt there and withdraw the £200 and left me £15 (plus the £10 I kept behind) to start again with £25 on Swansea which got me £45, and Ive put that on Wycombe tonight and it looks as if I have another winner on my hands.
My question is has anyone made a decent amount on money doing this? I was happy with the £200, although slightly kicking myself for not having the balls to put the full amount on Swansea.
