If dundee went bust this season
What would the fans in the first division do about it
And more importantly would the Dee loyal Move over the road to unite dundee or cross the tay to (Shudder) Walk amongst the saints?
Get over it pretty quickly but dismay at the fact that the Buddies would survive by default in the SPL.

My time as a serious football supporter would be over. I wouldn't go to Tannadice, McDiarmid, or anywhere else. Maybe the occassional match with my mates who support those teams, but it would be a token gesture as opposed to going and actually giving a f**k about the outcome.
A life of bittersweet nostalgia would ensue............................

I think that part is lost on most people, but if Dundee did become bust, my time as a serious football supporter would also be over. That would probably lead to a future child of mine supporting Dundee Utd, whilst growing up in the city. I would have no qualms about that, as I wouldn't deny her/him the opportunity of experiencing the world of supporting a football team. It is all hypothetical ofcourse, as Dundee wont go bust.

You are right muggy we wont go bustbut why spoil half a dozen new threads on this forum. The people who start them no nothing about our club, they may claim to know about our financial plight(some may even do)but they do not know the support our club has and still retains.I doubt it can ever get worse than last time and the fans will not let the club die.We both know that.

No, I wouldn't give up supporting football, but I wouldn't be a serious football supporter, in that I devote my passion and energy to one team; that would be gone, and I don't think that can be regained by supporting someone else - I couldn't physically support another team in the sense that I can be as passionate and devoted to them as I am, Dundee. That's what I meant.
I'd maybe go and watch a bit of Forfar, but it wouldn't be nothing serious.

Surely not? If a SFL team went bust, division one is 1 club short. This would see the leaders of division 1 move up and bottom SPL move down, but still D1 is a club short meaning whoever was in the play-off place of 9th would survive, and whoever was 10th would be in a play-off with D2 rather than automatic relegation, and same in D2 with a new team in D3?

Some pretty sensible answers to a question posed surely as much as a taunt as a genuine inquiry.
The idea of any team disappearing - and Dundee would probably be the biggest casualty in Scottish history - is of course sad for anyone with an interest in the game. I can well understand the idea of it seeming impossible to get behind any team again in the same way, and of football ceasing to matter like it ever did.
You've got to respect the idea of encouraging kids to support United in such an eventuality - the local connection overriding the rivalry in the name of preventing an interest in the game evaporating - or even worse, an affinity with the OF developing.
For me, if my team were to vanish - an even more hypothetical argument I like to think - I'd probably drag the kids down to Annan in the hope it might mean more to them than it could me. I couldn't have done that with Gretna mind you.

Arefreshing sensible post for once.As for the original topic I wouldn,t go to watch any senior scottish football regularly, the pricing is a joke and I only go now because of my love for dundee fc.No way would I pay between £15-£25 to watch a team I dont care about.I would never wish a club to go bust and I felt sorry for the genuine gretna fans although I wouldna mind seeing the likes of united and plastic thistle hit some dodgy times like we did(but to survive). For the record I love going to firhill great crack with the locals and good pubs but the majority of their posters on here at tits.

I think the only saints fans which would take any pleasure from seeing Dundee go to the wall, are still wearing school uniforms. Some of them tend to forget that it almost happened to us before Geoff Brown took over and I for one would miss the games against the Dee and all the craic that takes place at them.
I don't think you'll go bust but if you don't have a good run in the Scottish Cup and you miss out on promotion this season, I think it would be foolish to discount the possibility of part time football even on a temporary basis.
Fan Power is needed just now and if people start boycotting games to try and get rid of Rae, it could be more than the manager that suffers with the loss of income.
