I assume Paddy might play in this game, I'm not going, I'm sure it will be well attended and be a good night. maybe sensible prices too?

Indeed, if Gordy decides to play him instead of Shunsuke or Aiden.
Scott should partner Marc in midfield, with wee Glenny getting his chance to shine in defence.

Maybe good ol' Johnny will be attending, if he's not too busy being the chairman n'all.

While I feel I might be missing something in your post, I don't think we'll have anywhere near the first team out for mthis, might be proved wrong

Can I ask what this game is for? Seems odd to have a friendly when your season hasn't just started but you are competing in Europe. Granted it probably will be a skeleton first team squad.

To be fair Saint, it`s actually quite a nice city. If you ever get the chance, there are some decent pubs around Strand Street or Road, can`t remember!

And during the day, a nice drive south can take you across some beautiful countryside!

Part of the deal I believe to bring mcCourt to Celtic, they get a big crowd, we don't have to put out cash other than sending our reserves out for a game. Sensible way to do the deal all around, Derry might pick up some more fans on the back of it too

The game is to celebrate Derry Citys 80th Anniversary.

They were formed in, yes you've guessed it, 1928.

I imagine it will be basically our reserve team that turn up with possibly one or two first team squad players who need match fitness. Derry play themselves against Linfield the night before so the game is really just a kick about.

It still has to do with McCourt though and we would have arranged this game as part of the deal that brought him to Celtic.
glasnost
Turned out to be an excellent trip reminiscent of old European trips – not a new age, kilt wearing Celtic supporter in sight. Apparently we have another game to play over there shortly – splendid. You can’t argue with return flights for a tenner.

Swampy
Thrilling stuff - keep us updated on the latest flight deals.

Was it black balaclavas and tricolours all round then?

Well he is either a ghost or he is invisible. We hear more about him on here than we do anywhere else. Time to start a game called 'Where is Paddy?' biggrin.gif

Indeed I heard that. A hero to the Derry natives and hopefully soon to the Celtic support as a whole. I would have him ready to come on at Old Trafford if he is matchfit – after all, he could do no worse than Nakamura.

Looked a bit lazy to me at times last night, but when he takes players on he looks the part, we also had a stonewall penalty turned down, the bassa biggrin.gif

Very entertaining game, might go along more frequently

Heck, let's take it one step further.
We should pit the wits of Paddy McCourt against the best of em'. They shall know his name - which is Paddy McCourt, or Packie to his friends.

The young boy from Londonderry shall reap the rewards of his glorious goal against the Aberdeen reserve side. His resplendent features shall forever mar the memory of every Aberdeen supporter.
The Excelsior stadium shall never see his like again.

Sounds like an ace goal and I believe he is being hailed as the new George Best. Surely all the big teams around the world must be looking at this lad. I dont think it will be long until he gets a move to a BIG team. Surely Man City must be thinking about a move during the transfer window. wink.gif

No, just a brief appearance in a pre-season friendly. He was injured when he came to us so has been working his way towards fitness required and adjusting to the culture shock of having to curtail his exciting attacking football style to suit our manager.

Hopefully Big Clubfoot welcomes him to an OF derby with a nice big punt up his arse.
