There is mention that this was discussed at the recent SJFA meeting and a date, time and place mentioned at the meeting.... except it has not been put in the minutes? Cmon guys whats the big secret?

I would imagine it would be the Tuesday after the 1st Round replays but nice to know So that we can all plan ahead!

Space Cowboy
It used to be held on the Sunday after the replays at a Junior club's Social Club - though lately it's been held at Radio Stations and the Evening Times offices.

The early stages (2nd and 3rd rounds for example) still tend to be the sunday after the replays - late on they try and get more exposure by going to the radio.

It seems they were waiting to see who won their 1st Round ties before confirming the venue. Glencairn was provisional but they are maybe heading out.

Unbelievably Pollok have now been drawn away from home for nine draws in a row.

Irvine Meadow XI
Linlithgow Rose
Ellon United
St. Andrews United
Tayport
Ballingry Rovers
Lanark United
East Craigie
Culter

Our last home draw was the 4th Round during 2006-07. Luckily we've taken Meadow and Tayport back to Newlandsfield just to remind the regulars what Scottish Junior Cup football actually is. Added to a neutral venue for last year's semi and away draws in the Scottish Cup (St Cuthberts and Montrose, plus the Spartans replay) we really have been on our travels!

They should be too good for Rosyth. Maybe a bit slow at the back but their central midfielders Brian McKeown and Martin McGarvey, if both available, are two of the best in our league IMO. Up front Andy Reid and Kenny McLean will make short work of any poor defencing.

They put out the Haws in the 1st Round, a side that whupped Rosyth a few weeks ago.

Can anyone tell us how lossiemouth are playing as Harthill has a fair bus ride.

They're 3rd in the North Region's middle division and are unbeaten in their last 4 games. Scored 37 goals in 14 games though don''t usually keep clean sheets. They've conceded more than 3 goals in over half their games. Biggest win 7-3 v Dufftown, biggest defeat 1-5 v Dyce.

I maybe would not want that many away ties but in the draw for the early rounds I always want an away tie. Preferably against some lesser opposition in a far flung place that we have never been to and has the potential for a stay over. Worst case scenario a two hour bus journey fuelled with witty banter, Still Game DVD's and being in a strange town for opening time!!!!

Blantyre Vics away is a tough one for Lochgelly Albert. Noticed that they are unbeaten so far in the league. Is the ground quite near to the railway station?

Don't think it's too far away.

Although Pollok may not be a poor club, these away days hammer the finances. So the Lok treasurer must be pulling his hair out and has my deepest symapthies for the amount of consecutive away trips.

Our bus bill cost more on Saturday than we received from our gate share and that is sadly not uncommon. Thankfully none of the clubs are in it for financial gain!

IIRC, the ground is about 2 miles away from the station.

I played there a few years back and it was a nightmare as the ball spent more time out of the park than it did in it. They seem to have a good club there, so its not the worst place for you to be visiting.

The only time I've been, I walked it in about 15 minutes from the station (4 an hour from Glasgow Central). Buses from Glasgow City Centre (267 I think) pass nearer the ground.

I wasn't meaning you were fantastically rich just for the record as times are tight for a lot of clubs Super Premier included, more in comparison to Darvel or Muirkirk with no disrespect meant to those two clubs.

I'd wager it's a far harder operation to keep a club competitive in the super league than it is to put a team on the park in a district division who only hope to keep the score down. Yes, a Darvel or a Muirkirk might find 9 consecutive away cup ties hard going, but they don't have the running costs of say Beith or Lok. They also would likely take 6 or 7 seasons to rack up 9 cup ties as it is so it's not as if they're trying to find £300-£400 for a Junior Cup bus every month. I reckon this season alone our bus bills will be already well into four figures and the trip to Culter will eat up a good £500. And that's without running a bus to the Arthurlie games and Petershill.

You know the score when it comes to running a club, and I'd say keeping any club at the level it's at is one heck of a job.

From the map i've seen 15 mins looks about right. Hopefully the club will be running a bus though as i'm on the nightshift that night.

The Lanark should be Larkhall Thistle, I think. Lanark are advertising a 2nd round game against Forres

Larkhall Thistle - Central Div 1 - 3rd tier: http://www.larkhallthistle.co.uk/
Royal Albert - Central Div 2 - 4th tier: www.freewebs.com/royal-albertfc

Both clubs are based in Larkhall and Thistle have a strong claim to be the oldest club in the Juniors having been founded when Moses was a boy in 1878

Would expect it to be Larkhall in the next round and this will be a tough tie for Tranent...If Larkhall are anything like last season they'll be a big strong side, physical and no' bad...

Ach Winton Park's not too bad. The main stand's shut but I think the cover behind the goal's still there. I was at Winton Park in April 06 last, can't remember much about it though apart from opposite the stand being open but hard standing.

The stand is kaput for sure - I was surprised that the local tearaways hadn't succeeded in burning it down yet - and I can't recall there being cover behind a goal, but I am positive there was some cover to the left of the stand.

There was no aggro I could see the night I went there at the end of last season (they were playing Irvine Vics), although, to be fair, it's the only time I've been so far. I actually found all the people I spoke to from the club exceedingly friendly. So much so, that one guy encouraged me to return, and when I did, I was to bring a friend! Maybe the committee was short of numbers... :-)

Oh, and the pies were O.K. too.

You're right, the roof's away from the cover behind the goal.

And there is a bit of cover next to the shut stand.
