I'm getting scunnered with this, first the telly breaks down and now this!!

Anyway, I've been connected to XBox live for a couple of weeks now with no problems. I go to turn it on tonight for a wee game of golf, and it won't connect. On doing a test, it comes back with an 'MTU' failure. Having googled and the like, it appears this needs to be set around 1364, and if this failure appears, it means you have to change it on your router. However, I have a BT Home Hub which doesn't let you change this (not that I can see anyway) without delving through the registry, which I've no intention of doing.

I could accept tyhis if it never worked in the first place, but how is it possible to have been working for weeks, and then just stop?

Any advice would be welcome.

i think their doing an update today so it's unavailable for all? maybe? or i could have made that up.

You may have missed the message sent to Xbox live accounts. But Xbox live is down for 24 hours today for maintence.

not having a go or nuffing, but they did send a message to everyone that was quite short something like

Subject: Xbox Live Downtime monday

Message: Xbox Live will be unavalible for 24 hours from Mon 28th Sep 00:01, this is for vital maintanence, thanks for your patience

Did they do anything e.g New Features etc. or just Maintance

It was to prepare the console/servers for the upcoming update. So no new features as yet but it was necessary.

Anyone having problems with LIVE tonight? It keeps crashing my machine every time I try to connect. I was d/loading the PES demo, I dunno if that had anything to do with it.

My mate said he has been downloading the demo for about 2 hours

Sometimes it happens when big (just for you Ric ) Demos are released.

Off topic but as a warning many people are now selling boxes with X on them for hundreds of pounds on eBay.

Bloody hell, looks like my 360 is goosed now. As I mentioned earlier, it was totally freezing when trying to connect to X-Box Live. When I took the ethernet cable out, the machine was working fine.

Now when I put it on, it goes to the main front screen and just sticks there, can't do a thing, whether connected or not.

There aren't any 'red rings' appearing which gives me an ounce of confidence. This has all started when I started d/loading the PES demo, it must be related. No idea what to do now.

Ok, the problem must be with my LIVE account. Got the machine working again, and got it connected by trying to connext without the cable in, then inserting it just before it does all the connection tests. That got it going again, however as soon as I tried to sign into my LIVE account, it totally froze again.

THis is majorly annoying.

My mate had exactly the same problems earlier on this afternoon. Fine now though.

Try it again tomorrow or something and it'll probably be fine.

It's working again now!!

As I said to Marrez, never had these problems with the ZX Spectrum

Aye, like I said it gets a bit twitchy on the dashboard when there's a big download out.

I had the same thing happen to me, oddly enough after downloading the PES demo, it was freezing at the start up screen, and sometimes when I played in PES, then the rings went red for a bit for the first time ever

I just turned it off, made sure the 'power brick' was well ventilated and it hasn't happened again. Played it again today and it hasn't happened, might have been something to do with the amount of traffic on Live.

I have a similar problem but it's completely goosed.

Fine if I don't download the PES 2008 but i went to download again and as soon as it started the console frooze again.

I'm never going anywhere near that demo again.
