Lets try and focus on this thread now,
How do people see the game going?
A must win? Or 2 early for that?
I see the game as being a must win simply to keep up with the rest and to boost the players confidence. Surely we wont get another repeat of last week sad.gif

McGurn must start and lets see Guerro get a chance!!

If we don't win, it's the slippery slope to ANOTHER year in Div 2.......................... sad.gif
Anyhow, a sloppy 1-0 win.

Too early in the season for it to be a must win game, that said a few other teams seem to be putting a string of decent results together, a win would not only keep us in the mix for now but also would give a much needed confidence boost.

2-1 Raith
Paco
Big game this. Isn't quite a must win at this stage of the season, but two points from nine is very poor - not the form of a title winning team.

We need to make a few changes I feel. For starters, I'd play McGurn in goals instead of O'Connor. I'd love to see Davidson dropped as well, but I'm not sure we have much option but to play him on Saturday due to the injury situation. Guerrero has to be given some match time eventually, hopefully he'll get the last half hour or so on Saturday. I'd play Weir and Smith up front, and bring on Wales midway through the second half - I think he could have a huge impact as a sub. I'd imagine Ferry will be restored to the starting line-up, probably in place of Sloan or Silvestro.

Arbroath are decent team, but it's these sort of games we have to be winning if we want to win the league. I should be there, my first trip to Arbroath.

2-1 Raith.
Mel Hutchwright
Our one victory on the first game of season is beginning to feel like a long time ago now, and we really need to start picking up the occasional 3 points if want to avoid becoming detached at the bottom end of the table. We'll need to play a damn sight better than we did for most of Saturday past if we want to come away with any points this week though.

For the most part we haven't been playing too badly this season, but this all too familiar problem of our lack of incisiveness up front is really costing us. Unfortunately though, this isn't exactly the easiest thing for us to remedy at the moment. Tosh's deserves to start on the basis of Saturday's performance, but no doubt there will be a large, vocal element of our support waiting to pounce on the first mistake he makes. Just for a wee change.

I'd be satified if we got a point right now.

I think McGlynn will realise that there needs to be radical attitude and personnel changes for Gayfield. I cant see that midfield taking the field again on Saturday, and Im hoping it'll be Walker Ferry and Guerrero, with Weir playing just behind a strike force of Smith and Wales. The forward line didnt click, but then it hasnt clicked all season. Tho who knows, after Brechin McGlynn might go for a 5 man defence. rolleyes.gif Like everyone else I think O'Connor should be replaced by McGurn.
rw89
Spot on twa hoops, the problems can be seen. Changes just need to be made. Question is if McGlynn will play McGurn and reshuffle the midfield with Guerrero possibly getting a run out.

I notice McGlynn's late with his post match video interview. I wonder if its because he cant think of anything positive to say huh.gif

Can't see either side scoring to be honest so a dull 0-0 draw on the cards and the McGlynn must go wagons beginning to circle if it's another as inept performance as Saturday.

I missed it in favour of watching Brechin destroy us. sad.gif

I'd like to see us revert back to the 5-3-2 formation. Wilson and Cook are both good at going forward and we'd be able to use Davo on the right of our 3 centre backs. Silvestro holding with Ferry and Walker taking up the other two midfield berths. Smith and Wales up front again with Weir brought on around 70 minutes to take advantage of tired defenders. Is McGurn still carrying an injury? If not I'd like to see him back in goals.

We cant be any worse than we were against Brechin so I'll say 1-0 to Raith.

What's the joke exactly? If there was an away gate it would be 12 quid like for everyone else. But 22 quid should be the price away fans pay to visit a proper stadium.

I decided £6 was too high to visit Bayview thi last Saturday

Must win.

Mglynn has been quick and plentiful with his praise of the players this season.

Lets hope he is equally quick and plentiful with the arse kicking. Last Saturday was simply not acceptable.

We really missed Weir on Saturday, he must start. His contribution in terms of running, passing, flicks/tricks and general build up play is vital. Id like to see him out wide instead of Davo.

Wouldnt mind seeing Guererro get a run oot.

Please lord, win.
Spank the monkey
Missed out on the game at Brechin and it seems reading through the threads that i was lucky to have not had to sit through it.

I was surprised mcgurn wasn't back in against stirling to be honest. Its just keeping renton in instead of fahey again all over.I just hope mcgurn doesnt come back like fahey did.Mcgurn instilled confidence in me in the stand and was the first keeper in a while to do that - I think i edge closer to a heart attack every time O Conner takes a step of his line. Why can't mcglynn just drop players who look to me like they know they are guarenteed a game such as sloan.Fair enough guerrero may not be the answer and out of his depth in the scottish game but from what i've read surely putting him on for silvo or sloan wouldn't have done any harm on sat...see how he plays, at least it instills a sense of competition for places in the squad. To play you have to be performing and all that.

Anyways hopefully see mcgurn back in goal and looks like wales is going to be a good signing maybe so can maybe sneak a win.If you had asked me after the east fife game i would have really fancied our chances here, but after stirling and brechin (both games in which we created very few chances and played poorly) this is definitely going to be harder than it would look on paper.Need mcglynn to get the heads up and maybe change the formation at least until we get our injured players back.

First time at gayfield so im away to get google mapped oot ma face!!! biggrin.gif

Edited to add: What are the pies like????happy.gif

I'll be heading up for this one. I'm really not quite sure why after what my brother told me about us at Brechin, but ah well.

I'm expecting McGlynn to make a few changes for this one to be honest. I'd possibly go back to a 3-5-2 with Cook and Wilson playing wing-back. Without Dunbar, we have no naturally right sided players in the team, I'm really not sure why we've persisted with a 4-4-2 despite this.

I've been told our midfield was a complete and utter shambles, so I'd make a few changes there. I'd put Walker in the middle, with Ferry and Sloan either side of him. Silvestro's been out of form, so I think we should let Walker have a shot at playing the holding role, allowing Ferry and Sloan to get forward and support our front line. I'd also bring Guerreo on for the last 25 minutes, give him a run out.

In defence, Ellis, Campbell and Armstrong. Upfront, Smith and Weir/Wales. I'd also put McGurn back in goals, I feel he is the better of the two keepers.

I expect the chances of McGlynn going with the team I've selected are slim, never the less, changes must be made after Brechin. I think that team I've selected has potential to knock the ball about quiet well, and perhaps, (whisper it) Score goals ohmy.gif

He's been there since the East Fife match though, which by the time Saturday comes around will have been three weeks. If you can't shake off a knock in three weeks, then you shouldn't be anywhere near the bench.

McGlynn never picks his strongest team, it annoys the hell out of me.

*must not make obvious observations about criminal records, drugs and racism*

We could do with getting out and enjoying our football like we did in the first couple games! It might be controversial, but I don't even mind overly if we end up relegated...in the grander scale, the division we play in doesn't greatly affect our crowds or media coverage.

However, what I really want to see is entertainment. If I wanted glory, I would support the Old Firm! Therefore I would like it if we played without fear and just set out to entertain the crowd. Of course, a great number of our support would moan, but thats because a great number of our support are moany bastards who look for any excuse to be abusive.

Anyone know how Watson is doing? If we are persisting with Sellars up front, we could really do with Watson in midfield, he gives us something a bit different.

Was supposed to be going on holiday on Friday thus missing this one. That was cancelled so I'm free to go to football right? No! I'm working happy.gif .

Anyway, not a 'must win' but we could really do with a win under the belts. A clean sheet would bice as well. I'd start Mcgurn, give Campbell a rest and go 3-5-2.

Despite last week I'm looking forward to this (the fact I wasn't at Brechin probably helps with this) as it's my first trip to Gayfield.

I agree that McGlynn has to make some changes (firstly bringing McGurn back) and I'm sure he realises that. As usual I'm predicting a narrow Rovers win - 2-1.

Yeah, i think that sums up my own feelings. Seasons, divisions, players, managers come and go - if we had more money, we do better etc but so what?. The fans and, hopefully, the ground remain. What we can hope for is a decent lively and/or entertaining performance occasionally, especially at home

Despite the apparent lack of attacking threat, we're not the lowest scorers in the league. Having Watson and Scott back in in contention would give us some options. But Watson didn't appear in the Reserve game Monday (though Nicky Smith did so he's nearly back)
P.C
my first trip up to Gayfield and first away trip since Ayr (part time supporter i know!)

we really need to pull our finger out for this one, think we were living on our "we are unbeaten in the league" tag too much despite the circumstances of the points picked up in the games.

McGurn has to start no question he is by far the better keeper, i understand McGlynn is trying not to rotate the same way he did last year but cmon now

i think we could do worse than play Wilson further up the field, we dont really have any width in midfield and the only time we get any is when Wilson and Cook push on.

Going for a 2-1 for this one and hope the young spanish boy gets a run out, with a squad this small we cant afford not to play him

Smith was also on the bench against Queens Park a couple of Saturday's back. Not sure what the latest is with Watson but, given that he hasn't made an appearance in the reserves yet, presumably he's some weeks away from match fitness. Hopefully he's not absent for too long though, as I am one of the pro Watson brigade.
