He certainly hasn't done a great job. He's done OK in certain respects, and you certainly can't argue with the improvement in the league positions. Last season was a huge chance, and he (like ourselves) will be cursing Hamilton's consistency for a long time to come. We had the makings of a really strong side last season, but lacked that ruthless streak.
He was given a three-year target and that has put enormous pressure on him this season. He is tactically inept, no question about it, and the majority of his signings have been failures, injury-related or not. However, I feel the vocal displeasure of the fans does no-one any favours. There is a very long season ahead, and I am sure no team will forge ahead the way Hamilton did last season.
Alan Kernaghan wasn't far off getting us relegated, so I'd say he has done a great job, nurturing us into league contenders. People also say he inherited guys like, McDonald, Robertson, and Dixon, which is true, but surely he deserves a bit of credit for how they improved under him, and consequently the big moves they earned?
As I have already said, we would have been promoted with last seasons points total if it wasn't for Hamlton, arguably the best first division side promoted for years. Any other season, those points would have been enough and we would all be hailing him.
