Dundee's injury-ravaged squad has hit a new low. Today it was confirmed:

  • Eric Paton is out for upto 6 weeks, after twisting his shoulder in the game against St. Johnstone.
  • Gary MacKenzie suffered a broken toe in that game, also.
  • Paul McHale is out for 4 weeks with a calf tear.
  • Colin McMenamin twisted his knee and was carried off on a stretcher; the extent of the injury is still unknown.
This comes on top of other injuries:

  • Colin Cameron out for 4 months with knee ligament damage.
  • Darren Young still injured but back training.
  • Jim Lauchlan out long-term.
Not sure if there's anymore, but the situation is horrendous. Rae has signed some injury-prone players, but this is beyond the mark. I actually feel quite sorry for him!

I predict a 4-0 win for Partick Thistle at the weekend. I never predict against Dundee, even if I think we might lose, but I can't see any positives coming from this game.

Hope your right.

I'm not sure the previous situation with 3 players out could be called an injury ravaged squad (especially when one is slim Jim), we've had Archibald and Buchanan out for months. However, looking at those names out for Saturday we should be firm favourites for this one. We've gone over the issue of Thistle being firm favourites before though.

PS I don't feel sorry for Rae and I will love it if we beat them, love it and force poor old Alex out of a job.

A few players have just returned from injury aswell, but as soon as players come back, others end up injured. It's been like that since the start of the season.

Darren Young spent more time injured that he did playing when he was with Dunfermline. He'll come back for 4 or 5 games and then be injured again.

Our physio is a really fit female. That the one you mean? She's in the team photo on the official site. No wonder we're going through an injury crisis...

Fast on the heels of Agent Kernaghan, Agent Weir would do a sterling job at Dens and finish the job Big Al started.Rae of course was never an agent, but he's managing the Dees like he wants to be one

I'm so glad the Pozfather is going to be fit on Saturday. Can't wait to see Dacquin and Pozzy running out on our hallowed turf.

Oh jeez...

Er...starting XI on Saturday:

Douglas
Cowan Williams McKeown Malone
Daquin Pozniak Dodds Gilhaney
Davidson Antione-Curier

How fantastic would it be if Pozniak and Dodds prove to be the ideal partnership? laugh.gif

Oh my fucking God. That team is pish, although I agree it's our best team considering the injuries. In saying that, they can't do any worse than we are, I hope.

Partick Thistle - If you don't beat us, then your not good enough to go up. ph34r.gif

How good would it be if he made a special recovery ahead of the game on Saturday, give him the armband too. laugh.gif Seriously though, his main duty is to drive the team bus from Glasgow to Dundee every day.

We have 14 players available no worries. [Two of which probably don't train]

Douglas
Ludo

Malone
Cowan
McKeown
Ritchie?

Pozniak
O'Brien
Daquin
Gilhaney
Rae?

Curier
Davidson
Deasley

P.S. Ludo can cross the ball ten times better than Daquin, play him on the wing?

Are Rae and Ritchie basically retired, but just keep their registration on, just in case of any big injury pile ups like this were to come around?

I know Ritchie was mentioned around the opening day when we had a major injury crisis but Rae managed to sign Williams in time so he wasn't needed.

Unless he pulls another couple of loan signings out the bag for Saturday, we'll struggle to find 16 fit players, let alone decent ones.
Kyle
Do you have no youngsters?

Over the last couple of seasons, I'd say we've had worse injury crises than this, with at least 10 or 11 players being out at one time. We've managed to get through it, albeit with a bigger squad than what you lot have.

Yes, that's correct both are registered.

Our youth system is a shambles and none of the players are from the youth teams are ready for the first team.

I just remembered about Mearns too. 15 players biggrin.gif Time to register the free agent in David Farrell!
SJFC1988
Seen Dundee training today, they only had about 10 players taking part.

Also noticed Deasley was training too. lol
EastFootball
Dundee still have an U-19s setup, so some kids can be called up for on the bench.

It wouldn't be the first time we've seen a youngster come on during on injury crisis and being excellent, before cementing a place in the first team.
Only 1 Mad Martin
its great now teams know how we feel every season when the injuries pile in biggrin.gif

To be fair to AR that is a fairly serious list. The question is do you think, with these players fit, Dundee would be in a better vein of form? Lest we forget that AR's motivation and tactical skills have been called into question recently.

Yes, but why judge his tactical and motivational skills after 3 bad games?

What about taking us to 3rd place after the shambles of Kernaghan, and the following season, finishing with a points total that would have saw us promoted any other season?

I must admit, I gave him some flack after the Livi game and questioned whether he was up to the job, but that was it. I have regained my passion back, and I think, looking at the bigger picture, he has done a great job. He deserves to the end of the season.

He doesn't have a clue when it comes to tactics but we don't have any spare money to get rid of him. As you Darren Young he started training a few weeks back... he should be back for Saturday?

Partick Thistle have never been firm favourites for a victory over Dundee, and this Saturday is no exception. We're bound to score soon, and, having been one of the few to attend the game we've already contested this season, (a freak goal and a dodgy penalty aside) Dundee were the stronger side. Yes, we may be missing one or two players from that game but I reckon those who play on Saturday will come out fighting. Chins up boys.

He certainly hasn't done a great job. He's done OK in certain respects, and you certainly can't argue with the improvement in the league positions. Last season was a huge chance, and he (like ourselves) will be cursing Hamilton's consistency for a long time to come. We had the makings of a really strong side last season, but lacked that ruthless streak.

He was given a three-year target and that has put enormous pressure on him this season. He is tactically inept, no question about it, and the majority of his signings have been failures, injury-related or not. However, I feel the vocal displeasure of the fans does no-one any favours. There is a very long season ahead, and I am sure no team will forge ahead the way Hamilton did last season.

No, he had come back from one injury, got injured again and started training unless he got injured again, if he doesn't play he'll be on signing on - we should punt him and get someone else.

He signed a contract put in front of him by Dundee. He can't be punted, and will quite happily pick up his wages whilst contributing f**k all to the club.

Darren Young should sign a pay as your fit contract. dry.gif

Rae has stated he is looking to use the emergency loan loophole big-time however that all depends if the right player is there at the right time. Hopefully a striker and a midfielder to replace Pozniak and a centre back.

Alan Kernaghan wasn't far off getting us relegated, so I'd say he has done a great job, nurturing us into league contenders. People also say he inherited guys like, McDonald, Robertson, and Dixon, which is true, but surely he deserves a bit of credit for how they improved under him, and consequently the big moves they earned?

As I have already said, we would have been promoted with last seasons points total if it wasn't for Hamlton, arguably the best first division side promoted for years. Any other season, those points would have been enough and we would all be hailing him.
