Just had a quick watch of the highlights online. Why strachan still refused to buy defenders is beyond me...Loovens excepted.

2 or 3 nil to Villareal.
Very good technical side, finished 2nd in La Liga last season and have started pretty well this season, couple that with a very good 0-0 draw away to the European Champions. Celtic are going to strugle in a stadium, where the home side has only lost 3 or 4 times since 04.
Edit: Beating the likes of Man Utd, Inter Milan and Zenit St. Petersburg along the way.

Villarreal have a cracking home European record, Celtic have possibly the worst away European record there is. 3-0 for Villarreal

Villareal will probably stick a few past us tomorrow. Our defence is not anywhere near good enough to compete at this level away from home.

What I mean is I don't want another boring away loss for Celtic. To make the game entertaining for me I hope they somehow manage to claw a win (dramatic breakaway goal, rearguard action, goalmouth scrapes) or they lose by four goals or more (laughable defending, revolt from the fans, dummy spit by Strachan). Both would be fun to watch from a neutral perspective.
I think they will probably lose 2-0.

Don't be so pessimistic. Easy win for Celtic. Looking at 0-4 or maybe 1-4 if they switch off at the end. The heady blend of hapless defending and lightweight midgets that can't keep possession in midfield will be too much for the dozy Spaniards.

Strachan is learning in Europe.
The fans hail the efforts of his predecessor because he took them into the hallowed gates of the UEFA Cup.
Celtic fans don't want Champs League progression, borne out by the complete indifference with which they have greeted Strachan's achievements.
He is aiming for third place, to appease the fans, and has to be careful not to pick up too many points en route, just in case second becomes inevitable

4-3-1-1 for Celtic, with Nakamura also wandering about as a passenger, waiting for a free-kick.
Team: Boruc, Wilson, Caldwell, McManus, Naylor; Nakamura, Brown, Hartley, McGeady; Maloney; Samaras.
Subs: M. Brown, Vennegoor of Hesselink, McDonald, Crosas, Loovens, Robson, Caddis.
It will be interesting to see how they line up in attack. I'd imagine Maloney will play in the hole behind Samaras, but Nakamura and McGeady could also both play in there.
That is a bad line-up, in my opinion. A maximum of 2 out of McGeady, Maloney and Nakamura, I'd have thought would be the best option.

Boruc can't organise a wall properly and he always looks shaky at any set piece. (Not the goal) Not the signs of a world class keeper.
Also, Celtic's defense is the worst in years, I think i'd say that the reserved Bobo Balde is the best of that bad bunch (Not saw Loovens yet).

Indeed. Or even the penalty they were awarded against St. Mirren at Parkhead on the opening day.
Its amazing how Celtic get everything going in Scotland but once they get a neutral ref in Europe they get nothing.

Thought McGeady was very poor in the first half and only marginally better in the second. Brown played well as did Maloney till he was subbed. Naylor?..................nuff said.
Taken on it's own and away from the overall champs league away record I don't think we can complain too much. Villareal are a top quality side and will turn over better teams than us on their home turf.

For the first hour Celtic played well and the ploy of having Scott Brown shadowing Marcos Senna was a good one. I think Strachan can be tactically naive at times, but he got that one right.
As for Samaras missing the two chances he had, I hate the fact that footballers that earn a five-figure sum cannot kick the ball with both feet. I know you're always going to have one foot stronger than the other, but he wasn't willing to try.
As for Nakamura, I often think Strachan plays him out of defiance and like David Beckham, is a one-trick pony. He offers nothing to the game other than that and I think the sooner he leaves the better, because he plays like he's not interested.
McDonald was unlucky with his volley and Boruc was on good form again. Celtic can take a few positives from this, but the headlines will be all about this poor away record.

You thought Maloney played well??? You realise that by playing well you must be available for a pass and following your runner when playing that position, he left naylor exposed 2v1 on numerous occasions, was extremely poor in my opinion.
Thought Aiden didn't play to badly, certainly not the best but by no means the worst.
What exactly did paul hartley do tonight? If anybody seen him touch the ball give me a shout.
Nakamura....well what do you expect
Scott Brown - Best game in the Hoops, only gave it away once which is a record for him and seemed to be the only player in the midfield who relished a tackle.
Gary Caldwell had a super game yet again, did not put a foot wrong and continues to grow in stature, even captain had a decent game tonight covering for our invisible left side.
