While I'm still unsure about Broadfoot, he will play. Gordon and a back four of Broadfoot, Weir, Caldwell and Naysmith picks itself.
Midfield is interesting. Fletcher has to take this by the scruff of the neck- in his last few Scotland games he's failed to do it. I can see it being Hartley or Robson in beside him with Brown on the right, which I think is a mistake as Broony is wasted out there. Maloney to play on the left, though if he plays Brown in the middle I'd swap Maloney to the other side. McFadden will play up front, but I like him on the left, getting the ball in a deeper area and making things happen by running at defenders. However, we'll see how that develops. We have to be positive- Norway will be difficult, but they are by no means world beaters.
This is the team I think will play:
Gordon
Broadfoot
Weir
Caldwell
Naysmith
Brown
Fletcher
Robson
Maloney
McFadden
Boyd
Come on Scotland.

Did the Italy match pass you by, then?
According to the Record it's McFadden on his own up front with Morrison and Maloney behind. All my optimism has vanished. We're playing into Norway's hands I feel by not starting with either Iwelumo or Boyd. I'll still be there getting a sore throat but if this goes pear shaped Burley had better be prepared for a savaging.

I don't think this is a bad idea to be honest. The game will be very tight no matter what selection Burley goes for.
1-1 or 1-0 Scotland I reckon.

I would play:
Gordon
Broadfoot Weir Caldwell Naysmith
Brown Fletcher Robson
McFadden Iwelumo/Boyd Maloney/Morrison
Burley will play:
Gordon
Broadfoot Weir Caldwell Naysmith
Brown Fletcher Hartley Robson Morrison
McFadden
Look for a sneaky 1-0 win, but probably a 0-0.

Wouldn't go for 1 up, we're at home get 2 up and get stuck into them. Good solid performance and result which would set us up nicely! Can't wait!! Especially after watching a few videos of the France game at home that gives me amazing memories of myself and a few mates standing on our seast at full time with hampden bouncing to Runrig. It's entirely as predicted by many supporters. As close as possible to the starting line up that won the last game. What the hell is odd about that?

No height in the box, Morrison starting, Brown looking like a holding midfielder?
Maloney, and Morrison wide, who is going to get on the end of these crosses? As I said, odd starting line up.

The news from sunny Glasgow is that George Burley's troops will line up in a 4-3-3 formation, with Shaun Maloney and James Morrison either side of James McFadden. I'm not sure I like the sound of this.

Nobody! We're at home here, we need to win the game, not have some guy protecting the back 4 while the ball is pumped into their box and nobody is on the end of it. Get Brown bombing in the box, he'll just pick up needless bookings in the holding role.

Buley should hang his head in shame at that team selection.Mcfadden is no better than a squad player and to play 1 up front qt home against ANY team is in my opinion complete surender to getting a draw at best.Minimum of 2 strikers should always be the foemation and McFadden isn't a striker.

Have you been on the ale? He's one of the all time leading goalscorers for Scotland, not bad for a so called squad player eh? Maybe not a out and out penalty box striker but easily our best bet for a goal.

Get Morrison off, Iwelumo on, McFadden out left wing, Maloney switched to right if you must play 4-1-4-1. There is no target in the box.

When everything is fit is has to be Kenny Miller plus one other up front and if you HAVE to have McFalldown on from the start then play him in the hole rather than up front on his own. Should we lose this, then I would expect Burleys resignation on my desk immediatly after the game if I was SFA top dog.

This is terrible, big pumped balls into McFadden when he is up against Lurch, even if he wins it he is chasing his own flick ons, and no support from midfield.
Get Iwelumo or Boyd on at half time for fuck sake. And what the hell has Morrison done to deserve a starting place?

To be fair on Burley,if Smith or McLeish were still at the helm they would also play with the lone striker.Best to keep it tight 1st half, however i would be expecting a 2nd striker to be introduced during the 2nd half if the score stays level.

No surprises that the best chances came when McFadden went out wide to fire crosses in. If Burley doesn't get Boyd or Iwelumo on by 55 mins he can kiss goodbye to a win here.

I agree with the post about McLeish and Smith also playing 1 up front and in fact I gave Smith major abuse after the France game at Hampden when we won as we dont need to be so defensive against anyone at home.

I worry Burley has lost the plot, 1 up front at home against the poorest norway team i can remember. Now not even putting Boyd on to partner Mcfadden, I don't think Boyd would've missed that chance.
