Burley has a lot to answer for. Unless McFadden had an injury, why take him off. Two upfront was the right decision but it should have been Boyd on.
Get him out now.

No point getting rid of Burley, not after a draw at home. He has to start Boyd at home, and McFadden should have been left on, Steven Fletcher was gash.
Thought for me Broadfoot, Brown, and Maloney all stood out though.

Should Burley Go? No
Should Illuwemo have been in the squad? Yes
Should burley have taken MCFADDEN off when he did? ABSOLUTELY NOT.
I think that miss is a punishment for such a terrible decision.
Of course if mcfadden was injured then fair enough. But it certainly didn't seem that way, and mcfadden looked less than impressed as he marched off.

Dire performance today from Scotland, thought Caldwell looked a donkey throughout the game, Naismith is not even League Two class never mind international, Fletcher was dire and the big lad from Wolves has probably made himself the laughing stock of football for many seasons.
The fact is Scotland (on the last three World Cup performances, are not good enough to play in the elite stages of football, perhaps they never will be again)
For what it is worth, as an Irishman, I though Norway were woeful and offered nowt.

Precisely. We did ok and all these posts would have been completely different
if Iwelumo hadn't completely fucked his chance. We could have won the game and I think we should have had a penalty but overall a draw was probably a fair result because they had their chances as well. In the end we came up against a good team and didn't quite have enough to beat them. I think Burley got his tactics and team selection wrong but that's easy to say in hindsight. He also realised he had it wrong and changed it fairly early on. After he changed it we were far more threatening as well.

Well yeah... We would have won.
We played for about 20 mins and managed to make 1 goldern chance and another great ball along the line.
They made chance after chance and after we had had a good spell they still managed to make 2 great late chances.

Didn't see the game so can't comment on the performance, although going by the picture of Iwelumo on previous page of this thread, it appears I avoided seeing the greatest missed-sitter this century...
Anyway, we now have 4 points from matches we earmarked for 7-9 points. Which is, well, disastrous bearing in mind that second doesn't even guarantee us a play-off place. Even if we were to win home to Iceland and Macedonia, and win away to Norway (which seems unlikely since we can't even score a goal against them at home...), we'd have 11 points. It's hugely unlikely we'd finish 2nd and get into the play-offs with less than 15 points - so we now have to win every game, bar a draw in Rotterdam.
We appear to have only one friendly between now and the Netherlands away, and as that is home to Argentina, I can't see us having much chance to try out new strategies, or get a confidence booster.
