Rose 2 V 1 Tayport, Grady & Tank. Tayport down to 8 men in injury time. Think all were for dissent.

Rose played ok today. The midfield fell out the game towards the end of the second half. Scooby had a nightmare, again. He is fvcking rubbish.

edin 1 harthill 2
Millfield Marksman
Haddington 0 Arniston 0 (4-5 pens)

Given that Arniston had tanked us 5-0 in the League Cup a much better showing. Could have gone either way in the 90 mins

Cowdenjimmy
Kirkcaldy YM 3 Scone Thistle 3 (KDY won 7-6 on pens)

A decent match at Denfield park. Kirkcaldy took the lead in the 1st Minute and looked the more threatening side. Scone levelled in 32 mins when their wee fat number 9 curled a beauty into the top corner from 20 yards. Ym regained the lead in 36 mins when their big number 11 was put through and slotted past the keeper. Scone levelled right on half time with a free kick that took a big deflection.
Kirkcaldy looked more likely to score in the 2nd half and after a couple of near misses, went back in front in 70 mins, the number 11 completing his hat trick. Scone pushed forward for the equalizer and got it courtesy of a penalty in 82 mins (the wee fat number 9 doing a great job with the kick.)
So to pens and Kdy finally got through 7-6

Some pics of the match and Denfield Park are on my photosite

I thought the Rose deserved to win today. They had more of the ball but didn't create too many clear-cut chances. Tayport hit the post twicw and had other chances but it just wasn't going to be their day, even when they pulled one back. They weren't dirty but the ref was card-happy and reds were always going to happen. The injury-time flare-up ended with about five booked but from where I was in the stand, right in front of it, he booked the wrong players under the guidance of the assistant ref. Refs get a hard time but I wasn't impressed with this one. Don't know his name.

He contributed to the first goal indirectly. He blew to stop the game when a Tayport player went down with a head knock but, as the ball was in open play at the time, I thought it should have been a contested drop-ball. I believe, from what I've been told, that the Rose's Hogg was told by the ref to play the ball back to the Tayport keeper but a Tayport player intervened, knocking it onto the ref and back into free play. The Rose passed, rounded the keeper and scored. Obviously Tayport were upset about that but we must get this drop-ball nonsense sorted out.

Was that the reason that flat nose Morris walked into the Rose half having a go at Scooby when the teams were ready to kick off? I can't remember a game against Tayport when Morris hasn't thrown the toys out the pram.

Was at the linlithgow port game today.Thought it was a decent game ruined by a clown of a ref.Wasn't even a dirty game and to send off 3 port players was laughable. The challenge that sparked the fight towards the end was a two footed jump by a linlithgow player and he he should of got sent off.Thought it was an even game and a draw would of been a fair result with tayport hitting the post twice and missing some good chances.

I could understand why morris was so annoyed after the goal. When the linlithgow keeper went down tayport didnt even compete the bounce up.
lyt
it was the port player who injured the rose keeper.right thing to do after the keeper was carried of.
the other incident leading to the rose goal was all the doing of the port defender intervening in the
ball from hoggy being passed back to the port keeper which then hit the ref.should the ref have steped in and
got the rose to pass it back again. NO

I didn't see any two-footed jump and I don't mean that in an Arsene Wenger "didn't see it" way. Maybe it happened below my view from the stand but I can understand why Tayport's players would have been feeling sore by that point. They certainly didn't deserve to have so many bookings, never mind red cards and the Rose picked up a few trivial bookings as well.

For the drop-ball after the Rose keeper was injured I think the ball was in his hands when he went down injured so there wasn't any option for the ref but to order the Tayport players to leave it alone. Can't blame the Tayport forward for the injury as he had every right to go for the ball. I'm not even sure it was a contact injury. It might have been a twisted leg in making the save. Somebody in the know might be able to tell more.

At one point I though the Rose were going to roll them over but Tayport did well to keep going, given that nothing was going their way and a goal was no more than they deserved.

The first red was for a double yellow but in my view it was a last-man tug back and was an obvious straight red.
F_T_Y
The first sending off was a booking .there was lots of tayport players around the player so i didnt think it was deserving of a straight red.Was a stupid thing to do though.

I was standing opposite the stand and could see the linlithgow player jumping in from there. It could of been nasty if he had made contact. Also in the tussle that followed there was linlithgow players pushing aswell.Dont know why the ref could of told both teams to calm down.

Marc Graham was at the hospital tonight but his knee is too swollen to show the extent of the damage.

I think you can tell when a team is losing the plot when a player reacts to banter from the crowd by showing his arse and then being sent off within the next few minutes. Also, I have never seen Fitzpatrick (T'port keeper) race 70 yards to protest and get himself booked. The Rose were quite right to contest the drop-ball. They had possession on the edge of the Tayport box when play was stopped. Why should Fitz be allowed a clean clearance after his own player went down injured? At least Marc Graham had the ball in his hands when he was injured.

Over the piece, Tayport were unfortunate. They may not be the team they were but they are nobody's mugs and they'll still win more than they lose if they play like they did today. Rose on the other hand are still trying to put together 90 minutes of good football. They show in patches but that won't be enough to win the bis stuff. More required.

As for the ref, I'm not sure what he could have done. The first sending off was a clear second yellow. The second red was stupid. A 16 man fight is never easy to get right - they normally send off one from each team!

I thought the ref had a decent game also. The Tayport players didn't give him much choice with the sending's off and the only booking that was unjust was Grady for the Rose after the scrap. He was about the only player not involved!!

As far as I saw it Grady did nothing but it could have been mistaken identity for Hogg who did push someone away. The last Tayport player to be booked looked so amazed I'm convinced he was innocent as well.

I have to admit that, even although I think Linlithgow were the better side and deserved to win, if I was a Tayport supporter I would feel hard done by with the missed chances, the woodwork, the passback that wasn't awarded a foul, the drop-ball incident and the harsh bookings/red cards.

I disagree with your assessment of the ref. I don't think every foul deserves a booking.

The proverbial rollercoaster of a match - a decent afternoon's entertainment. Bo'ness got off the hook in the shoot-out, having missed their first two. Thank goodness your potentially decisive fifth penalty taker was more Dan Carter than Antonin Panenka...

Appart from the scrap atthe end the bookings were all for persistant fouling or dissent appart from the number 6 who pulled Grady back after he had skinned about 5 of them. I thought Hoggy & Scooby were both lucky to get away without a card at the end.
