we had such a good start to the season ... a good run in the challenge cup and co-0p cup and had only conceded 1 goal in our first five league games. now its what, 8 games in i think and we have conceded 6. we were undefeated away from home in the league until today. what happened today? what is happening? its still too early to tell but we should be picking up points against Clyde, Ross County and Morton who will be all trying to avoid relegation near the end of the season. apart from Morton, who we beat 5-0, we don't seem to be able to beat Ross cOUNTY or Clyde. not time to start panicking yet.

Get a grip mate. You were never likley to pick up points at Vic park. We had this game down as our first home banker of the season and we are not disappointed.
You were lucky to get promoted as Raith deserved the place far more than you and you will be back in div 2 before you know it.

I was surprised at how poor Airdrie were today. When Airdrie were up in the Co-op Cup earlier in the season, you were the better team, but today County dominated pretty much from start to finish, and the score could and should have been a lot more than 2-0.
Again, as with every Airdrie game we play, Stephen Robertson made several good saves to keep the score down.

A deep cross by Richard Brittain (right to left) Smyth was on his own at the back post, and coolly side footed the ball into the bottom corner at the back post. Steven Craig was running in behind but it really was a bit of a howler. I can only imagine he meant to put it wide of the goal, but missed.
The second goal also hit a Airdrie defender last, deflecting off the back of your number 5. (Donnelly ??)

Pretty comfortable today I thought against a poor Airdrie.
Could and should have scored more, we had the chances, Higgins will be annoyed at fluffing his one-on-one.
Best game I've see Craig having, held the ball up well and looked sharp, Keddie I thought had an excellent game too.
Much better pace about us than last week, used the flanks, smaller pitch of course.
A much needed 3 points and hopefully it will give us confidence for another home tie v Morton next week.

Not as many as St. Johsntone and Dundee brought.. but then I can understand that given distance and size of home supports.
Airdrie probably had around 100-120 up today.. ... I always applaud those who travel as opposed to critising those who didn't !

As said this was a shadow of the team Airdrie brought up earlier in the season in the CIS cup, however it would also be true to say we were'nt as bad as we were back then.
First half was generally even(ish) County getting most of the ball, but Airdrie I felt having better chances. 2nd half was the best I've seen County play this season. The second goal was needed and allowed us to open up and should have made it 3 or 4 by the end of the match.
I just wish County would use the sodding wing more. Many times so far we have had the ball in the centre on the edge of the opponents box, only to attempt a through pass or something like that. Use the wings and stretch the team out a bit more. Other than that it was a more attacking display, lets hope it continues next week agaisnt Morton (and the following week also)

Airdries strikers offered little next to nothing. Felt quite comfortable during the game, even with the slim one nil lead. Gardyne looked brilliant today, very impressed with him
I felt again County lacked the killer instinct today and at times looked to close the game down instead of pushing forward and killing the game. Without a doubt we deserved to win today but until the second went in I thought Airdrie looked the more likely to score. Once we went two nil up we seemed to open up more and in a ten minute spell we ripped Airdrie, and should have scored three times with Robertson making three good saves. The saves he made, he had the time to get down to make them, if Higgins and Scott rifled the ball instead of placing it, they would have scored.
A good three points and if we wn against Morton next week we will be in a better position.

Secondly, Raith deserved to get promoted ahead of us??? What gave that away? The fact we finished above them in the league or the fact we comfortably knocked them out the playoffs???

Your as easy to wind up as that Airdrie fan in the yellow shirt yesterday, he was giving Mr McKendrick a shit load of abuse. In all seriousness though, at least another first division club saw how inept he is in this division, frequently stopping the game when it shouldn't of been and playing on when a foul should clearly been given. At least we didn't have another 3 players red carded like Livingston

Agreed with this in it's entirety. The lack of killer instinct is still one of our biggest hurdles, and how different the game might've been had it not been for an early, slightly freakish goal (although we did start very well anyway). Had we not been 2-0 up Higgins would've been likely berated for not finishing his chance. Until our 2nd I also felt Airdrie looked more dangerous.
All that said a good win in the end, Airdrie went to pieces and we over ran them in the last 10 minutes of the game (despite not taking great chances). Going into the game we opened up our season ticket books for my brother to comment "Is this only our 3rd home game?"
To which I replied sarcasticly "Aye, think how many more we've got to go."
You can forget very quickly how good a feeling it is to walk out of the ground without a win but it was a fantastic feeling to have it restored yesterday.

Waiting for what? I do not need to explain why I was expecting nothing short of 3 points. For County to survive this season we had to win on sat. As we do against morton this Sat. Again, I think we will beat them.
As for Raith deserving promotion more than you I am basing that purley on the fact that that they are (in my opinion) a better footballing team. Oh and the fact that they beat you in 3 of the 4 league meetings.
I respect raith as a footballing team and think even today they would pose more of a threat to County than Airdrie would.
