Considering going on my own to this one. Will be our most difficult game so far in my opinion. Brechin have some excellent players who will no doubt cause us problems. Hopefully our injuries aren't mounting up too much and we can field a team for this game. Would happily take a draw from this but i'm hoping for a win. 2-1 to Raith with Weir and Walker scoring for us.

I think Brechin will destroy Raith at the weekend - 4-0 perhaps.

This'll be a hard game as usual but if we can go to Peterhead and win we can certainly go to Brechin confident of winning too. Good to have Sloan back, he gave our midfield a wee bit of composure when he came on on Saturday and heres hoping that Kevin Smith gets a good weeks training and is back to his best.
A draw wouldn't be too bad a result but there is a strong possibility of East Fife beating Ayr and giving us the opportunity to go top so McGlynn will have us well up for this. Should be a nice open game too.
1-2, Smith and Wilson.

Sep 22 2008, 11:37
I don't think we'll keep a clean sheet up there, so hopefully we actually manage to score a couple of goals for once!
Brechin are a good side, so our defence will have to be at it's best. Hopefully Mark Campbell will be back, although Armstrong looked the business when he came on on Saturday.
I'd like to have Dunbar back for this game. I appreciate that he's not going to last 90, due to being injured, but I think he can offer us some pace down the right and can overlap with Wilson. If he isn't back, I'd assume McGlynn will put Sloan on the right (much to my annoyance). Personally, I'd play Sloan on the left, with Ferry alongside Walker in the middle. Of course, there is no hope of this happening if Dunbar isn't fit. I'd also like to see Guerrero given a shot, he looks like he can pick a pass.
My main concern is up front though. We just can't seem to finish off our chances. Hopefully Smith will be back to full fitness, and hopefully Graeme Weir will score sometime soon.
Can't say I'm all that confident for this one, I might still make the trip up though.

Or it could be about some of the ludicrous decisions we've seen this season at the Glebe: offside at a throw-in, goal given when it hadn't crossed the line or goal not given when it looked like it probably did. Take your pick

Not surprising really. The standard of refereeing never seems to improve season after season. The best we've had at Starks this season was Craig Charleston.

I know several games have passed since, but judging from game 1 vs Raith at somerset, and the game vs Brechin yesterday, brechin looked a far superior outfit going forward however didnt look as strong as raith at the back, particularly when put under pressure.
So, in conclusion, i dont have a scoob how this should go. Hopefully we'll win and it should't matter too much!

That was one of the worst pieces of officiating ever. Ranks alongside the disallowed goal at the Partick v Dundee Utd game about 15/20 years ago.

Very tough game this. A draw wouldn't be a disaster, but we have to look for the win. Not very confident about getting it, mind. We need to play a lot better than we did on Saturday, or we'll certainly lose. We were shown in March what happens when you don't play from the first whistle at Brechin, hopefully McGlynn hasn't forgot about that.
I'll go for a 1-1 draw, but it wouldn't surprise me if Brechin won.

My guess is it'll be tough, McGurn must be back in goals. O'Connor doesn't fill me with a lot of confidence, and our strikeforce is very weak. Brechin will exploit this to the max, but you never know.

Cant wait, Glebe Park is a great day out.
Im pretty confident about this game tbh. The first hour of the EF game and the first 15 mins against Stirling saw us play some fantastic stuff. If we can get rid of the "panic" element of our play (those long balls) then we will cause teams like Brechin problems.
Big game for Weir. His link up play has be superb so far, but he just cant find the killer touch. Once he gets that goal however, the rest will flow!
This will be the defences biggest test so far though. Brechin are a very tidy outfit and will certainly cause us problems. If we can maintain the composure at the back, and focus on playing our passing game in the midfield, then im confident we can win on Saturday.

Ive no idea when we last beat Brechin by a big score. Games between us the last few seasons have been close scorewise. I expect saturdays to be the same, and low scoring. Mainly because we've a strong defence to keep charlie king et al out and powderpuff forward line thats unable to score from anything more than 2 yards out.

I still fondly look at that match as one of my favourite away days - another one being our 2-1 win there in 06/07, when Hislop done a forward flip celebrating the winner in front of the delirious cowshed.

Really looking forward to this game. In fact, I've been fairly looking forward to every home game thus far this season: the, ahem, upstarts East Fife, first league match Stirling, the team that pumped Aberdeen - Peterhead, another crack at knocking out an SPL side Kilmarnock, w00t, a local derby against Arbroath, now a match against the pre-ordained, champions elect, cream of the crop, king of the hill, Raith Rovers.
It seems to be one cracking match after another to look forward to. Something to whet the appetite each time. This season's fakkin ace
