Can it still be a bad team performance when we didn't play like a team?

Alloa were awful today. No fight, no imagination, no urgency, no presence. We were second to everything and steamrolled off the ball by an East Fife side who looked to be enjoying themselves and who played some nice stuff. East FIfe keeper won't have an easier 90 minutes.

I didn't see why the second penalty was given and even though it came after a decent shout of our own, if we had got anything out of that game it would've been a travesty.

Is Maitland the man to take the club forward? Can Dougie and Jamie play in the same team? Dunno.

I thought East FIfe's brick shithouse big b*****d of a number five was very impressive.

I didnae think we were that brilliant today. Alloa had a lot of possession but, as the caller said, did very little with it.
It's a strange game alright. The best we've played was against QP and Brechin but took only one point from the two games.
I'd say Alloa certainly look a better bet than QP to avoid the drop but maybe Queens had an off day against us. Who knows?
Anyway, a welcome three points, and looking forward to next weeks game against Ayr (Chicken tikka at the ready)...

We were a few minutes away from Division 1 in May and the squad is probably stronger now than it was then, how depressing that we are being talked about as relegation candidates 7 games into the season. Ive always been a supporter of Allan Maitland but the results so far and the league position are totally unacceptable. He needs to turn things around very quickly and for the first time Im starting to wonder if he is capable of doing that.

No punch up front I'm afraid. Yes we should have been given a pen for handball in the box and if it had been given EF wouldn't have got their 2nd goal no matter what happened at the pen.
However we're poor at the mo. Too early to talk of survival (or even a play off at the other end of the league) but it seems to me we're doing great off the pitch but are poor on it

Hows Shields getting on so far for East Fife?

No luck East Fife, we are away from home next week, so should pick up points............. Wish we played away all the time. We'd walk the league. Wonder if Wullie Gray will consider burning down Starks Park for us...........or is there not enough tyres in it? Or a Weegie ganster to pay him off?

Dene had a really good game for us today. Had the full back on toast & his cross for the 3rd goal was superb. Already looks like one we would want to keep beyond his loan period but I doubt it will come about.

Great win for us against a poor Alloa side.

We dominated the majority of the match and after the 3rd went in we knocked the ball around nicely and could have added a few more.

The 1st penalty was a stonewaller. Our 2nd was definately a penalty too, your number 5 fell and decided to catch the ball with both hands and push it away. Good call from the linesman. A nice finish from McManus for the 3rd after a good cross from Shields who had a very good game.

We are now starting to find our feet and have started to pick up results after a shakey start to the season. This win was a much needed confidence boost before a big game against Ayr next week.

I thought we looked really good today. Fagan and Shields definetely add something to the midfield. The second penalty was a stonewaller too.

Alloa looked very poor too.

As has been said, hopefully we're now up and running. It would be lovely if we were to smash the Ayr mutants next week, so it would.

Dont know abut anyone else but I'm sick of watching us get worse week after week. What a joke having our best defender (Dougie Hill) on the bench. Campbell is the worst left back I have ever seen. Fleming was 10 times better. Townsley and Mclune have gone backwards. The midfield is poor and we have nothing up front. I think the sausage jockey had 1 save to make yesterday and that was in the last 5 minutes. Stevenson is a waste of money. Get him punted back to Morton now and use the wages to get someone else in, even if it takes until January.

Maitland to go. Clueless again yesterday. Substitutions were baffling.

On the subject of money. Maybe it should have been spent on getting a decent team rather than a stand which is not even open yet.

Be careful what you wish for. Maitland is quality and will sort it out. Calls for him to go are stupid in my opinion. Who would you get to replace him?

how can you lot say you will win the leage mate when you need penatlys to take care of a diddy team like alloa maybe if you scored from open play then we would beleve you but you cant you have all these strikers yet you cant score goals for shit and thats why no way youll win this leage or get in the playofs because your not good enough and air will tonk you next weel although thats a dificult one as i hate them to so a draw would suit us good mate mon the rovers

It seems to me that the players are not playing for the manager. If the rumours posted on the Duffle are true then he has lost the dressing room already. To some fans Maitland is seen as the Messiah. Untouchable and beyond criticism. That's nonsence. I spoke to someone on the way out yesterday. Worst Alloa team he's seen in 30 years was what he said to me. Found it hard to disagree with him.

Who to replace Maitland? I have to be honest and say I dont know. But I do know that things are getting worse rather than better.

If Dougie has had a bust up with the manager then fair enough, but I have to admit I was mystified as to why he was dropped to the bench. I was also baffled by the manager bringing him on for an attacking midfielder when we were 2 goals down and chasing the game.
