hi all, a Blantyre Vics U21's team who were allegedly discarded by the Vics senior team have taken up the name of Baillieston Juniors with a view to be reinstated back to the Junior fold, does anyone know any more about this, i feel it would be good for a Baillieston team to resurface. cool2.gif

I know the former Baillieston Juniors officials well, and I dont think the club name will ever reappear.
Baillieston sold the old Station Park to a housing development and were supposed to be relocating to Easterhouse. The piece of land is still there, but there is not enough money - despite grants - to process the way forward. Its over four years since Baillieston folded as a junior club.

The current unde-21 team won promotion from the West of Scotland Youth League First Division last season into the Premier Division, which contains the likes of champions and Scottish Cup double holders Harmony Row,Campsie Black Watch and Knightswood Juveniles.

The current under-21 boss is a former Baillieston Juniors manager, but there is a huge difference going from there current level to setting up a junior football club. You need a ground to start with, office bearers, money and a forward-thinking plan to keep things going. Remember,Baillieston Juniors used to have a thriving social club, but that, like many nowadays, dwindled away, and eventually was burnt down.

I hope they do come back as I come from that end of Glasgow. You only have to look at the likes of Vale of Clyde, who dont have a social club,to see that with hard work and a loyal/dedicated committee,it is possible to keep going, and reach the Super Premier Division.

It would be good to see Baillieston back in the fold a source of players for Stranraer in years gone bye thanks to our link to Marshall's coaches but it would be a big ask to get a team, ground and infrastructure up and running from scratch without someone with very deep pockets to bankrole it.

I stay over the back from what was Station Park and would certainly try and watch a Baillieston team if it didn't interfere with following Rovers.

I think it's unlikely thay'll be back without a ground though, and it would be interesting to find out what happened to the proceeds from the sale of what is a pretty large site - there's now a nursing home and close to sixty houses on the old Station Park
