If Scotland gets its Independence will Sellick fans change form being anti-British to being anti-Scottish or are they already anti-Scottish?

vikingTON

Jimmy Shaker
Is the rest of the season going to see a continuation of this shite?

I'm already a staunch Scot and I am staunchly British.

Are you either or are you just plastic?

If Scotland gets its Independence, I won't be going anywhere as I am a staunch Scot first and foremost, though I would be disappointed to lost my British identity.

Are you sure? Don't you sometimes feel Irish when you sing

'The Fields of Athenry'

Cause I feel Brittish when I sing 'Rule Brittania'

Yeah I know, I'm one of them. There are some Rangers fans who have came across recently as anti-Scottish because the Tartan Army bood the NI natinal anthem.

Those Rangers fans did not come across as being anti-Scottish. They were simply being pro-British. You shouldn't equate being pro-British with being anti-Scottish. There is absolutely no connection. In fact if you are pro-British you are also pro-Scottish but anti-Independence.

It's not only SNP supporters who are pro-Scottish.

I'm a Rangers fan and I never sing God Save the Queen and I hate hearing Rule Britannia being played at games. It has nothing to do with a Scottish Football Club. Its the SPL not the UKPL

And like a torrent rush

The Rebellios Scots referred to in that verse were the Jacobites. If you know anything about history, then you would know that the majority of Scots were anti-Jacobite and that the Jacobites were largely crushed by Scottish soldiers fighting for the British army.

Thats why i put it in inverted commas. Bit of irony. I am scottish, my family is scottish. My grandfather is english. i was brought up to support football and celtic. not religion. my religion is a personal thing which i will never discuss or force upon anyone.

Celtic + Rangers = Football, not religion

For me anyway

To quote directly from Wikipedia

'While Jacobitism was closely linked with Catholicism, particularly in Ireland, elsewhere in Britain Catholics were a tiny minority in 1689 and the bulk of Jacobite support came from other groups. Catholics formed about 75% of the population in Ireland, but in England only around 1% and in Scotland about 2%.'

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jacobitism

The vast majority of Scottish Jacobites were Protestants. In Scotland, Jacobitism was associated with certain Highland clans, not with religion, unlike in Ireland.

You should stop seeing everything from a Catholic Irish perspective. Typical Sellick fan.

No I haven't. I said

1. The majority of Scots were anti-Jacobite and the Jacobites in Scotland were largely crushed by fellow Scots.

2. The vast majority of Scottish Jacobites were Protestants, unlike in Ireland, where the vast majority were Catholics.

Where is the contradiction?

Thats not what you were getting at at the time of your 1st point, you've just researched it more. You can't say that the majority of Scots were anti-jacobites as they had followers all over Scotland and Europe. The reason alot of Scots were in the British army was due the high level of poverty in Scotland and your quality of life improved under the army.

I can say it cause it is true. Also, Jacobitism had absolutley nothing to do with Scottish Independence. It was about putting a Stuart on the BRITISH thrown, which at that time included England, Wales, Scotland AND Ireland.
